About Nicole's response, you are correct that I may have been dormant for so long but if that is the case and I did infect someone OMG WHAT DID F'N DO!!!!! I am so freaked out that that could have happened, my mind is going crazy with just the thought of it. As for the tone of my previous post, I am trying to come to grips with this and I may have been a bit to harsh on some of the companions out there that are have in way cause me any harm, please accept my apology

Was wondering how providers and hobbyist feel about herpes HVS-1?

However,
HSV-1 is still a communicable (and std) disease and you should abstain from all activity with the ladies during an outbreak. You should also consider the proper antiviral therapy if you aren't currently on it. Nobody wants to take the risk of getting anything through skin to skin contact especially during viral shedding. Most people with HSV-1 are asymptomatic, that is what leads to infection and those folks being carriers and infecting others during viral shedding.

What ever choices you make are yours, you should disclose this and allow each lady to make her own choices. Some people will move forward an decide it is no big deal, others will abstain and err on the side of caution.

Be safe, and be well,

Grace

If my title didn't make my point, let me make this clear: I have gone THIS long without getting it *KoW*, do not EVER want it, for ANY reason, WHATSOEVER. I will avoid doing basically anything with anyone who even has a *zit* that looks suspect.

I would be be *BEYOND* devastated if I got something so gross, which is why I'm so careful in both my professional AND personal lives. Most people (including those in this world) get The Herp and other gross diseases from their personal lives. I know that I've heard my fair share of Girl Talk, and non-pros are not NEARLY as safe, careful, or fastidious we are. Interestingly enough, I was The Safer Sex Queen loooooong before I went pro...which was probably why it was so easy, fun, and natural for me! I already knew how to have LOTS of sexy fun while being INCREDIBLY safe and mindful repulsive diseases...like herpes. *shudder*

In fact...let's have some of that clean, sexy fun THIS WEEK! *WOOT!*

XOXOXO,

Diana

You are beautiful and kudos to you for smashing a barrier to bits!

So  you have never kissed  anyone without a full medical workup? Everyone who has ever had a cold sore is disgusting?

wow

......
By the time they're teenagers or young adults, about 50% of Americans have HSV-1 antibodies in their blood. By the time they are over age 50, some 80-90% of Americans have HSV-1 antibodies.

hat a hysterical and over the top reaction.  Nobody * wants * Herpes, but for all intents and purposes this is a virus that is nothing more than an occasional superficial rash, and you're reacting as if it were an inoperable brain tumor or Bubonic Plague.  There are far worse things to catch

Well that's how I felt when I just got the news from my doctor this week that I HVS-1 and didn't know how others felt about it, because I dam well know that I most likely got it from a companion that I've been with though my hobby and they were just fine letting me get the gift you can never give back with out divulging that information. I knew that there are risk in what I and my companion were doing, I just didn't think this would happen to me I guess. Now that I do have it, is my hobby going to be over? Will there be a willing companion in my future? That is left to be seen. I am willing to bet, that there are some providers on this site and I know elsewhere that will say they are clean but in all actuality are not. Just hope you don't get what I wish I never acquired Be safe all!!!

its not for certain you got it playin here.
You could have had it and it be dorment for yrs by the way.
They call that a silent outbreak.
Even though you have no signs you are still contagious. So you could have been the one passing this aroud while having no clue.
If a bloodtest is what told you you have h1 whats to say someone else didnt know they have it.

Personally if I got herpes Id retire its a conscience thing with me.
I do suggest if you plan to play still you disclose this to your playmates...only fair.

Im sorry this happened to you.

I'm a bit confused by this.  Do you have HSV1 on your genitals? Or mouth?  Without naming names, how do you think you got it?  Kissing? BJ?  This is one of the only honest posts I've seen on the topic.

I am not a dr but type I is very prominent about 30% of population has it. most with no syptoms so that's why it keeps spreading. you basically can spread it from sharing a soda.

In general, about 60-90% of the population has HSV-1. It is very hard to measure as even the best tests are fairly inaccurate when trying to detect HSV-1. The number is high to say the least.

HSV-2 is about 16.8% of the population and about 20-25% of women (11% of men).

Unless he had symptoms which were cultured, it is unlikely he knows where the infection is located (as the results sound like they came from a blood test). Historically speaking, HSV-1 is located around the mouth, but with the increase in oral-sex, about 50% of new HSV-1 infections are in the genital region. However, HSV-1 in the genital region rarely has recurrent outbreaks and a person can expect maybe 1 in the next year and then never have an outbreak the rest of their life.  Also, HSV-1 rarely sheds without symptoms in the genital region (maybe 1-2% of days as opposed to 20% of days for HSV-2).

Why does your screen name appeal to me?  Have we met?

Alas, I do not believe we have as I do not see many providers lately.

HSV-1 is also known as cold sores, and the majority of people in the world already has it (typically from the time they were a child and kissed by a grandmother).  It is estimated that between 60-90% (probably closer to 60%) of people have HSV-1 and the number increases the more people you have kissed. So in general, there is about a 60-90% chance that if your provider kisses, they have HSV-1. If you think you do not have HSV-1, you are also probably wrong since you have more than likely never been tested. This is because the majority of people do not know they have it since routine STD screening does not test for herpes. Really, it is not something to worry about and in the majority of people is only the most minor of inconveniences.

HSV-2 is also known as genital herpes. Approximately 20-25% of women have genital herpes (11% of men). This number varies for men and women as well as for different races. For example, about 48% of black women have genital herpes. This number is estimated to be slightly higher for providers than the general population, even when condoms are used 100% of the time. This is because herpes is spread skin to skin and not through any body secretions.  Dr Hansfield (one of the top STD doctors in the country) estimates that a condom is only slightly effective (50-75%) at preventing transmission. On top of that, HSV-2 transmits asymptomatically (without symptoms) on about 20% of days, so even if there are no obvious symptoms, 20% of days (or about 75 days a year), the virus is still shedding. Most people also do not know they have HSV-2 as it is not tested for in routine STD screenings. In general, with anti-retroviral therapy, HSV-2 is also only a minor inconvenience after the first outbreak for people. The stigma associated with it is far greater than it should be.

Despite a large percent of the population having HSV-1 or HSV-2, it is important to inform your partner of your status so they can make an informed decision. If you are a hobbyist or a provider, it is also wise to request a type specific (distinguishes between HSV-1 and HSV-2) from your provider. Sexual health is important! Especially in this hobby.
