If you've never been to LOS my advice is this:

Spend little time in BKK, about 3 nights is enough. Check out the city at day and Soi Cowboy and Nana district at night. BKK is much more expensive then Patts and not as much talent. I personally spend as little time there as possible.

Patts is all out 24/7 crazy ass wild. You can go down Soi 6 and find it all day long. Walking Street does not get going until about 10:00 pm or so and then FULL of tourists, ladyboys and GoGos. I stay out of the GoGos cause to expensive, can find just as good elsewhere.

Go to Pattayaaddicts.com for more in depth info. I can write a book here about it.

Hello, I am planning a trip to Thailand in near future. Based on your experience, what are the top a-gogo's in Thailand, both in Pattaya & BKK? Please compare the two regions too in terms of food and lodging. Thanks in advance for your advise.

I have been to both Bangkok and Pattaya several times.   I prefer Pattaya over Bangkok just because it is less crowded and more relaxed.  Pattaya has literally hundreds of bars.  There are plenty of nice inexpensive hotels in Pattaya.  Try to find a hotel close to the "walking street".  There is plenty of street food carts all over.  You can PM if you want specifics.
