I check stock quotes.  Then, I start reading articles in Bloomberg and Flipboard.

Then 2 email accounts, followed by BYTimes, BBC and Huffington.  Imagine the information available to some person living 20 miles from a major city in 1900.  
Funny thing is the person in 1900 could survive outside for a week and many people from today would be dead clutching a powerless cellphone!
