It's like sharing your toothbrush ....

I find many people are sick this time of the year and air travel really can bring you down. My experience with someone coming to see me after being sick is disastrous. I spent 2 weeks last year on antibiotics and another 2 with a nasty cough. All this because a special friend didn't tell me till after the fact he had been sick and was afraid he was going to have to cancel. The tail end or feeling better doesn't mean you can't make another person sick.

I took almost a whole month off for fear someone else would get sick from me.

Always let someone know so they can choose what level of comfort they have meeting with you ? I know I would have appreciated this option.

I booked time with one of my ATF almost two weeks ago.  She is traveling through Orlando from out of town.  Our original meet was supposed to be tomorrow, but fortunately, she had to reschedule to next week.

Well, I got sick over the weekend with flu-like symptoms.  I'm on the back side of it with just a mild residual cough that will be gone by this week hopefully.

So, what the etiquette in this situation if our meeting was still tomorrow as originally planned.  Do I go to the appointment with a mild cough knowing I'm not 100% well or should I explain I'm mildly sick and cancel knowing I would miss seeing her this week and she would have one less appointment that she planned on.  This was her first trip to Orlando and she probably would not revisit for a while.

Then - more general scenarios:  what if I get sick before seeing a local provider or the provider is sick?  Is there an expectancy to inform the other party?  I remember seeing one provider last year and after I arrived, she informed me she had a mild cold.  Should she have informed me sooner?  I think more than once I've had a mild cold after seeing a provider.  Coincidence?

Lots of ways this can go.  Thoughts? :)

To me honesty is the best policy for either party and the sooner notified the better an informed decision can be made.

You need to be straight up with them. Passing a flu or anything else to them could stop them from earning an income for some period of time. I personally wouldn't want to pass anything on, and I'd bet most providers would appreciate you telling them vs just showing up with a cough. Get your fun when you're past it.

As for your second question...same applies, in reverse. She should tell you if she is sick, preferably before she books an appointment with you.
