Add 5 years to the age posted

I noticed an ad in TER for a visiting provoider indicating that she was 22 years old.  Her review history indicates reviews dating back five years to September 2009.   Doing the basic arithmetic, this means that the provider was providing service at age 17 - underage - or, more likely, is now understaing her age.

I am curious as to how prevalent this practice is among providers.  Is age that significant a marketing tool that it is worth lying about?   Also, do hobbyists mind if a provider understates her age?

They'll be lying about whether they came.

Not true in all cases. I am 43 factually

As long as pictures are honest (with exceptions like removing tattoos for privacy...as long as that is noted) I am happy.  Being slender is important to me, not age.   Then again, looks don't even matter much if the girl has certain skills.  As you can see my priorities change from day to day.  Different mood, different girl.  No problem

It's typical for most to understate age.

In my experience, I've found that one age marking is the most honest in revealing age: the condition of the provider's hands/fingers.  It may sound odd but it's been very reliable for me to gauge age.  Without going into any details, there was a recent review of an Asian escort where he stated that she was "not as young as she looked in her ad."  I immediately looked up the girl and took a good look at her hands/fingers.  They looked a bit worn for the age her ad stated.  I've found that photo-shopping is done on faces, legs, arms, etc, but NOT on hands/fingers.

My two cents.

How wrong you are about the hands, I have seen ladies who advertise 50 but have skin and hands that look like 20 year olds

I noticed woman who are in their 50's claim to be 38 on profile

I'm sure it's no surprise to many that women in general, not just providers, tend to lie about their age. It tends to be more common when they're 30+ for non-providers, for providers it's usually 25+. Some of us simply honestly forget to update our ages in ads, or profiles.

Age is definitely a huge factor in marketing in this business though. Back when I was 18 and 19, it was not unusual for me to get 20+ appointment requests in a day. Although I'd usually only accept 1 or 2, and never more than 3 in a day. These days I'm only "working" part time, and only accept 2 or 3 a week.

For the record, I'm really 22, and I started providing a couple months after turning 18. I'll have to check my profiles and see if I need to update them, it's an easy thing to forget about.

It's performance, overall attractiveness, happiness, etc that counts for me.  Not age.  I look at images, reviews, but not age.  Ever.  Sometime experience leads to an amazing encounter.  Other times it's just raw attraction.  Sometimes it's a special skill that surprises you.  Age, for me, is not even on my check list.

But I'm sure some of my ads say 25, out of reflex. It's more about pegging yourself in the correct group as a 'barely legal', 'early twenties', mid-late twenties (or just plain twenty-something)', 'early thirties', and then 'milf'' followed by 'mature'.
