Does it actually "work"?  Are there actually women -- I should clarify: attractive women -- who sign up for something like that?  Just recently heard of the site, and can't quite bring myself to believe that it's anything other than a way to get horny dudes to sign up for something that will never bring them anything ...

Did it about 4 or 5 years ago?
All I got was emails.. and when I tried to convert to a meeting.. all the girls wanted , supposedly, was to email back & forth (??).. also you have to pay a lot to actually read your emails.. I cancelled it when my Credit Card company flagged my (legit) charge as a fraud and called my wife asking if someone in the household had signed up for a dating service (!!!??).. OK.. I said it must have been a fraud. (Of course).. and the charges weren't allowed. I called Customer service at AM and they backed off the charge.. so it was not something that used a name that was acceptable and there wasn't anything (for me) there..

this was back on 2005-2007, and I have not been on since- but did connect with 4 different ladies over the 3 years I trolled on there, some were a one and done, some were ongoing situations, and one was a full blown affair that lasted 9 months (yeah I am married).  problem was my getting, or their getting, emotionally involved- I seriously thought I was going to leave my wife and family for this one chick (she was married, 10 years my junior, no kids), and one chick got seriously too attached to me too quickly.  As one poster here remarked, with the hobby, we pay them to LEAVE, no strings attached.  Yeas, we have our favorites, and I have a few that have become ongoing friends and we email and talk occasionally, but we all understand its a professional relationship and neither of us are going to stalk the other or go all 'fatal attraction'.

So, the ladies I met on AFF were amazing in their own right, had some great sex, and fond memories, but the potential for things to get very complicated were too high for me to risk continuing in that arena.  If you get on AFF and become a regular on the live chat discussion boards, there is quite a community there;  not sure if there are that many people there actually hooking up anymore.  Lots of profiles have been there for a LONG time, quite a few 'bots too- but for someone wants to invest the time (and money for membership and access) it could yield some rewards.   Difference is you pay up front for access, and then you need to be persistent and methodical to find a potential hook up- with the hobby, you look for who you want and pay as you go- I admit the hobby is a bit cleaner and straightforward, and for me a better fit.

Rub the lamp and get three wishes.  Great deal, unless your the 10th guy, who gets sucked into the lamp for 5000 years and has to grant everyone else's wishes.

I've heard that story a few times from married guys who try to have lasting affairs.

I had a profile and Ashley Madison would send messages right from my account

simple words like "HI" or "Nice"

they also have people contact guys saying "how do you like my friend"? and then directing you to a woman who would never have contacted you

I got banned because I told the guys I was not contacting them and they complained

It is a big scam to take a fee from you

Nice tits!

A couple of a holes suggested that I try it. It requires some determination but it works. Just like the hobby you can meet some very nice people, and like the hobby you can run into the types that you wish you never met before.  The high points can be amazing. You go meet for a drink to see if there is a connection. Next thing you know as you go to kiss good night and say goodbye. ...well its round2. It doesn't work for everyone. Your not paying them to sleep with you. It's like singing in the shower, we all think that we sound great until karaoke night....
