It is true that some good conversation can be great foreplay, and I also think that wine is a great social lubricant, but they do come at a cost.

First, I am reluctant to seek pre-session telephone conversations since I may be imposing.  However, if the lady wants to talk beforehand to get a sense of me and what to expect, I am happy to do since I think it pays dividends in the form of more relaxed and hopefully inspired lady.  I remember one chatterbox who kept me on the telephone for 90 minutes, but when I met her, she was primed, locked and loaded for fun.

Wine is also great and I often bring it, usually a half bottle of Nicolas Feuilatte non-vintage Brut Champagne (about $18) or half of full bottle of Prosecco, often less than $15.00.  I found some durable plastic Champagne flutes and I pack them and the wine in an insulated cooler so it is ready to go when I arrive. Popping the cork can be seen as an intimation of things to come.  Quite frankly, I am less interested in drinking the wine than in providing some fun and excitement to the event. P.S., the cooler also has a corkscrew in case the lady likes non-sparkling wines (and many do).

As I said, all of this social time comes at a price.  It's hard to have a good introductory conversation,  a few sips of wine and then a pre-session rinse in less than 30 minutes, so you really have to plan on a 90 minute session, which can move a session out of the affordable range.

Still, once you get used to this routine, it becomes harder to do without these social icebreakers.

you need some communication time.

Personally, I like a little chit chat time on the phone even before our appt. This really does
help to break the ice and make everyone more comfortable.  When it comes to the meeting,
you can guarantee some get to know each other time...this really gets the blood flowing for the
soon to have fun.  I do too like it when a gent brings some wine and sometimes, I even get some
gifts.  But it is not necessary.  As long as I am treated with respect that is what matters to me!

What's your favorite ice breaker when meeting a new provider, or hobbyist?

I always love a little chit chat without getting too personal. I also love when the hobbyist brings wine. I think that really makes the date more enjoyable, because it makes it a bit more romantic and intimate.

Ladies I have met are first met at a M&G, social atmosphere, where various other social topics are discussed.  They find out a bit about us, vice versa.  Though I have met a few ladies strictly based on word of mouth, and when I get there I tell them as such and we often sit for a 'bit' to get to know one another over a glass of water if during the summer and whatever the lady wanted to imbibe during the winter.  Some music will be playing in the background, a few times I hum to the familiar tune.  (my singing is relegated only to showers /  running on the home treadmill / stationary bike / home gym. )

One or two, I have invited her/ them to dinner first to relax, take the edge off from the driving, and after dinner; adjourn back to a hotel / her place and the rest is in the 'fictional' accounts here
