True Bistro .... best vegan gourmet in Boston area. Teele Square in Somerville. Just around the corner from me. Need a date?
If you don't shave, I won't either.

The best ice cream is Toscanini's by far. J P Lick's is okay but Toscanini's is real creamy gourmet ice cream. No wonder the New York Times called it the best ice cream in the world. Their burnt caramel is super famous and with good reason. If you like Indian flavors try their khulfee as well.

I actually have a very close provider friend (more friend than provider/client at this point) and we make it a point to go to Toscanini's whenever she's in town.

...preferably in Downtown, Back Bay or areas that are reasonably nearby?

I like my vegetarian food hearty, flavorful, and interesting.  If anyone knows about South Indian food (dosas, etc.) that would also make me incredibly happy.  It's often harder to find amongst types of Indian food, but it's my favorite... Also, ice cream recommendations?  Unique & creative flavors?  It's my birthday this week and I've been meaning to visit Boston for a while, so I'm planning to enjoy myself.

Oh one more thing I'm wondering about: best place downtown to get breakfast!  Vegetarian-friendly a plus, but not a must as breakfast is usually pretty easy for me to work out.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

I agree i went JP licks my second visit to Boston and every trip since. I love their rum raisin

I think Boston is a great food town and the ice cream is to die for

HP xoxo

Dosa Temple in Somerville is probably the closest to boston. There is a video on WGBH's site about that location. I go to the one in ashland (original) and they have the best gobi 66 (cauliflower ) I have had in the States

...the one in Somerville closed and the Ashland one is now the only location (according to the internet).

Another motivation for me to buy a car sometime soon!  Living in NYC has meant not needing one for a while.

Ahhhh I want dosas so bad now!!  ;)
