Would appreciate some advice on the best places to visit in Florida in August.

...you are a half hour from South Beach, a half hour from Palm Beach and an hour from Naples. You can get amazing rates on hotels in the Summer as it's off season. As a Florida native, Summer is actually my favorite time of year in South Florida. Spend a night in South Beach enjoying the clubs and sites, enjoy a day in Palm Beach, and when in Ft. Lauderdale, enjoy world famous Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

centrally located, Orlando is.  Ft. L is way south on the Atlantic, south of Palm Beach but north of Miami.

LLAP,
Swo,

There's nothing worse than planning a vacation to Florida and to have it rain or be cold the entire times so look into the weather as best as you can. I've often relied on the Farmer's Almanac when traveling north during the winter months. It's saved my hiney more than once from being caught in a snowstorm. Hard to believe but the almanac has been around for decades and is usually fairly accurate.

With that noted, Miami is great if you're looking for an NYC kind of vibe. Ft. Lauderdale's Las Olas area is wonderful. You can reach most anything you need or want to do (restaurants, bars, shopping, galleries) on a water taxi. Tampa's downtown area has come up quite a bit and there's always something going on. Riverwalk is the main attraction these days with it having been extended around the entire downtown perimeter with a connector to Bayshore Blvd. If you're into cycling, running or walking you'll always be in good company on Riverwalk. Many bars and restaurants are attached to Riverwalk as well. Something else that makes Tampa a great choice is that you can get to St. Pete Beach/Treasure Island easily which is where the locals hang out in droves over the weekends. The Loews Don CeSar Hotel would be a good choice if you wanted to stay a few evenings on the beach.

Love Laney - your local tour guide (lol!)

Hello, Miami is fun and the hotels really cheap, St Augustine, Ft Lauderade as well depends on what you are looking for...best swing clubs are in the area , have in mind the days are very hot and humid so plan to stay inside and the nights are fun :)
You can go to naples and Tampa as well.
Let me know if you have any other questions Ill be happy to help ...Florida is paradise :)
