Mirage only has security from 10pm to early morning - I've been there many times and that's always been the case.

No security at elevator. Super easy valet. Very short walk to elevators. Quieter. All rooms are suites.
Mirage
Security, crazy valet, Very long walk to elevators through noisy casino, rooms are nice but not suites.
One plus for Mirage is the BARE pool. If you are getting a cabana it can be really fun. If you do not pay for a place to sit then you cannot sit anywhere other than in the water. PS. The water is pretty gross but if you have enough alcohol you won't care.
Delano has a much nicer topless pool but it is a little more low-key.

They required me to show my room key to access the elevators.
Perhaps it was because of the college basketball event? Maybe it was just for certain days? But all three times I stopped by in March they had someone standing by the elevators monitoring who was coming/going.
I don't want to hijack the thread, but what are your thoughts on the SLS Las Vegas? It looks nice and the rooms are very affordable, its just off the strip a ways. Is it easy and convenient to get to the rooms?
Meh, Very strict security, perilous parking garage, rooms are a remake of the old Sahara rooms so you get very small bathrooms and no real closet just some open racks in the bathroom area. Pool is very loud, like can't hear each other talk loud.
It is a good place if you are on a budget and they have some nice restaurants and entertainment venues
I have to agree with Heather on the general discription. If you get one of the bigger rooms , it's not so bad but you'll have to meet your lady downstairs as their elevators require a key to the floor you are going to in order to be able to select that stop. Even if she has a key from a previous visit, she can't just flash it to security and meet you upstairs
The rooms at the SLS have mirrors by the bed.So if you like the mirror aspect of the room and the sushi restaurant there is quite good.They also have Bazaar Meat restaurant there I heard it's good.But there is security there at the elevators.
Delano is newer. recently remodeled rooms - very nice place.
Also rooms are suites, so you have a separate bedroom.
If you can land a bedroom suite at the Mirage then go for it,it's a really cool room. I like to be in the middle of chaos and all the action and the Mirage has a better location. More hotels to hop and shopping is close by. The pool at the Mirage is a lagoon so if that's your trip it's ok. And you have Carnegies Deli at the Mirage...Get a corn beef on rye.. And isn't the Delano by South Point, kidding...it's too far south for my taste. And I think to gamble, you'll have to go to Mandalay Bay.
