I am not a provider, but will try to answer your question.  I have met more than one lady thru an agency and after 1 or 2 dates called them direct to see them privately.  I have also seen ladies only thru an agency and they would not see me any other way.  I find it is best to ask the provider if you can see her privately and not the agency.

I'm a hobbyist, but since no provider seems to be answering...

I know providers who work for an agency and are independent at the same time.  They give the reduced rate for indie since there is no middleman.  

But check with the agency.  Some have very strict policies prohibiting this, and some don't care.

Indies using agencies when they travel, but of course, don't when they are at home.

.......long week  *LOL* (and now with no sweet tea allowed on Commercial flights it maybe getting longer  

At any rate, just in my experience.... the latest addition to the thread has been the majority of my exposure w/ agencies.

When traveling I didn't actually work with "agencies" so to speak, more like old school ...... imagine the "best little whore house in Texas" movie, that is the best comparison to the places I used to tour:
Libby's in Boston, Paiges in Philly, Jeanette's down in New Orleans, Charlie's in NY, Rose's in Chicago, Anna's in NY..... these were all bordello type establishments. You could do anything you wanted as long as it wasn't in their town....... so, if you wanted to be an Indy in your home City and be represented by them when at their place then it was possible.

I was with an agency while in Medical School and it was in my home town...... her rule was no working anywhere but her place.

It shouldn't take much for one to realize why a home town girl working Indy as well as with an agency can lead to a nightmare quick.....they do the promoting and the Indy merely uses their service to recruit clients or "cherry picking"...... that could not possibly be profitable for the Agency.

I usually remain quiet in regards to voicing my thoughts on Agencies for several reasons: most know I am Indy now and would think my opinion on an agency might not be credible. However, I have a tremendous amount of respect for agencies and have had great experiences with them.

They don't return your calls, never pick up their own phone or voice mail.  So many times you can't even leave them voicemails becuase their mailboxes are full.  If I conduct business the way these ladies do, I would go out of business.  I would stick with the agencies, you pay a bit more but you avoid the hassle.
