Over the last 10 or so years, it has become more and more frequent that providers, unless you're finding them on backpage, will ask for references.  The reasons are fairly obvious.  Some of the providers and agencies are more, um, intrusive (for lack of a better word), then others but, aside from all the obvious reasons you can think of, there's one more that you might not have thought about: the lady has to feel comfortable with you.  And each lady will have a different standard for what information she needs from you to feel comfortable alone in a hotel room with you, a stranger.

And, the screening process really is not that much worse than going on a date, is it?  I mean most dates I've been on, I've been asked what I do, where I work, and many of the same questions that the providers and agencies ask.  And I've been asked some of the same questions from women on dating sites.

Another little point:  I'm not sure that any of the agencies, especially those that handle porn stars, keep the information they get from you anywhere except in their heads.   Some might write it down in some little black book, but I don't think many of them keep any of the info online where it can be hacked or subpoenaed.  Ok, I don't really know the inner workings of any of the agencies, this is a guess, but I'm pretty sure that the agencies I've dealt with over the last 10 or so years haven't kept the information.

In any event, If you really don't like the screening process, you can always use sites like date-check or similar sites.  Although not every provider or agency will accept those sites either.

I'm going to be in Los Angeles in the near future and I'd like to see a porn star who's listed on a well-known porn star escort site.  But to do so you have to fill out an application form that's as onerous as a mortgage application:  name, address, contact info., place of business, etc.  I'm surprised they don't demand a credit check and a face-to-face interview.

Look, I understand the need for safety and security.  I share the same need.  But there has to be a way to make an appointment without revealing so much personal--and potentially damning--information.  Does anybody remember the Ashley Madison hack?  I doubt very much the agency I'm talking about has sophisticated anti-hacking software protecting its clients' data.  I think that's also true of the websites that offer client confirmation.

The agency also wants two references from providers I've seen in the past.  This strikes me as being a kind of pyramid scheme:  you have to give your data to one provider before she can share it with a second and so on.  And in this way you've opened yourself up to being compromised by an even larger pool of people.

If anyone knows of a safe way to make an appointment without having to open oneself up in such a potentially catastrophic way, I'd appreciate it if you'd share it with me.

not just with porn stars but with providers in general... at least here in Las Vegas it is ... and I get inquiries from all over the country asking for refs for clients I have seen so I assume its like that in other places too

I'm not sure which agency you're dealing with, but the ones I've dealt with will let you book with them if you have one PSE reference.

They're not going to cost themselves money if the ref you have checks out.

You hit the nail right on the head, not sure what your interests are, but there are a lot of porn stars not affiliated with agencies with much less stringent screening processes.  Either that or really top tier providers that are not porn stars that I have found really easy to book with.  Hit me up if you need some names.

About 20 years ago or so, I paid for an escort with a credit card.  About a year later, I got a call from someone saying she was from a new agency and she asked me to use their service.  Not surprisingly, I was completely freaked out that my info was being passed around.  So the idea that an agency doesn't keep a paper trail but keeps it "in their heads" isn't reasonable at all.

Also this isn't a date.  A date is legal.  I'm not sure if TER will let me say this, but what we're doing here isn't legal in most places.  Or at the very least, it's embarrassing if the information is made public.

In my opinion, eventually all of these agencies that require references and extensive data will collapse under the weight of hackers making public the information they require

First of all, credit cards are a different matter.  Secondly, as I think I said in my message, things have changed over the last 10 years or so so what happened 20 years ago isn't entirely relevant.

I've happy to provide proper photo ID, prove of finances etc but i would draw the line at providing any info about where i wor

This isn't any different than non porn stars.  If you don't like what an agency does, try an independent.  It's downright stupid and begging for bad things to happen if I don't do proper screening.  Personally I require 2 provider references OR one of the 3 screening sites I use.  I always, without exception, run their info through a website that checks black lists, criminal records and sex offender registries. Neither I nor any of the websites I use safe any info I enter into them for verification. When I arrive I check your driver's license to verify you are the gentleman I screened.

As far as using a credit card, it's a different story. I at one time took credit cards.  I had no records of your credit card number and info, only the last 4 digits.  I personally had no possible way of saving your credit card info and therefore can't possibly share it.  The Merchant whose service I used does save your info.  It's not at all shared with me and I have no control over it.  If a lady is using services like PPal or a merchant that isn't adult friendly (there's not a lot of them), your info could be at risk of an investigation if the provider is caught using their services for adult purposes. Almost all merchants that don't want to service the adult industry has a blurb in their contracts.  I know a porn star, about 8 years ago, lost thousands of dollars to Ppal.  It's right in their contract that you sign that they are not to be used for adult industry purposes.

Its a fucking epidemic where porn stars are berated and bashed by other porn stars for escorting. Ridiculous, right? Especially because all of these gals do it, in one form or another. Whether its porn, a sugar daddy, a client - its all the same. So there are few independent and open girls in porn.

You have to realize, we have a lot of stalkers... this is already a dangerous biz but when u add in the stalkers it creates an environment where girls demand a more secure environment.
