Hi TravelLots,
First of all, I am very sorry to hear about your recent experience and I compleately understand that it was a big inconvenience. I would feel the same way and want to write a negative review as well; However, If I were you I would save the time writing a review about this and enjoy your time with another provider. We don't know what exactly happened on her side of the story but we are emotional creatures and mistakes are bound to be made. I am not making excuses for her. She could have taken the time to explain her situation and if she felt uncomfortable she should have added that as well. I really do wish you better luck with your next meet.

Sincerely,

Felicia

I was stood up tonight by a local provider who's in the top ten.  Her excuse was...she wasn't up for it.   She gave me ten minutes notice.  What do you do in that case?  It seems that if I write a negative review of the situation, I'm at risk of being black balled by future providers who don't like negative reviews.  I think it would be good for the forum to be aware of the behaviors (and hell, it just might be me -- maybe I turned her off somehow).

I'd be interested to hear what providers think as well

...I'll opt to be very careful with my word choice as I do not want to anger anyone. That also seems to mess up your reputation here.

If we take all emotion out of it & view this from a business standpoint, then honesty is the best policy for potential future clients. May it hurt her? It may but that is part of the business model & is capitalism at its finest. In regards to you getting blackballed for that - that is interesting. Not seeing a potential client because they gave a negative review because something they perceive as negative happened (our perception is our reality)? I mean that makes sense to me. However, that's my former Navy Sailor coming out; that part of me is a hard-ass and doesn't have time for excuses.

My emotional intelligence is kicking in and I'm reminded there are always three sides to every story: yours, theirs, and the truth. I do not think you are lying, but I am curious if there was something else going on on her end. Did she say she "wasn't up for it" as a way to cover up for something else she didn't want to inform you of? I am not sure as I am not privy to all of the variables leading up to your situation.

In this industry, I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt to everyone.

Either way it is a tough call and there can be unforeseen consequences for both of you (her business & you potentially getting blackballed). I say take some time and sleep on it. Right now, you are "feeling some type of way" but in the morning you could feel differently.

I wish you luck!

According to TER rules, you can only write a review of a session that actually happened. so if you got stood up (which honestly sucks) you are NOT able to write a review.

What you can do, (if you choose) is name her right here on the Discussion board, this way everyone reading will know about her shoddy behavior, it of course also gives her the chance to give her side of the story and then it goes to the "court of public opinion" and we each decide which of you sound more credible.

I'm sorry that happened. I know how difficult it can be for the guys, considering they usually have a small window of opportunity. The top isn't always the BEST!
