I've noticed that BackPage ads from agency escorts require "upscale" VIP gentlemen while independent escort ads require non thug gentlemen. I'm certainly not a thug but I don't know if I'm upscale enough. I'm an overweight (not obese) blue collar guy and my hygiene routine includes showering, shaving, brushing teeth, and clipping nails. Do I need to have a white collar job and a more intensive hygiene routine (American Psycho Patrick Bateman style) to be considered upscale? Answers are accepted from escorts and clients. In my opinion, nothing on back page is upscale. That's why I stay the heck away from it and any girl that has a listing on it.

Is a gentleman who is clean and respectful (as windycitysteve described himself) can afford and gladly pays the provider her rate and if she provides good service tips to show his appreciation. Simple as that, no drama. Providers rates are posted, they are within his budget. He gladly pays them, we have a great time! He is fun to be with and tips if he enjoyed my service and is able to. What more can a lady ask for??

You're upscale enough. Don't worry about it. Some reputable providers advertise on BP but most are scams and some are police so check them out carefully, if you insist on looking on BP. Better to do your research on TER.
I totally agree with what Carly said, it sucks that you felt like you have to fit into a certain mold aesthetically or financially speaking.
& sort of repeating what she said, anyone that is kind, respectable & is interested in paying for the time spent together is what I look for.
