That's not a problem with the fans.  That is a failed business model.  Seems to me the Porn industry has failed to adopt a working business model that factors in Tube sites.  The current business model cant be "I will make it and hope it doesnt get leaked for free".  No matter how you slice it, if it is being released via video, streaming, dvd, direct download etc etc etc... it will end up on a Tubesite.

I have only seen one exception to this rule and that is Brazzer not releasing AT ALL... the incestual/sister fucking each other but amazingly hot scene between Sandra Romain, her sister Alice Romain and Danny D (A day in Romain I think it was called).

Now that is not saying that some arent profitable but they sure as hell aint making what they used to with Tube and Torrents out there.

A Porn Star said to me not to long ago after an appointment, "Pay for your porn" and I was struck by the statement... The porn industry has been decimated in the recent past by tube sites so much so that, I actually had to go searching for a way to "pay for my porn"

We have more options today and so do porn performers.

The tube sites gives them greater exposure and easier access for more people.

So this is why TER is great and honest porn providers can always make more money in this hobby!

Also they can make more money at a strip club too.

If they are smart with their porn movies opening doors.

It will only lead to the bigger money opportunities for the adult performers

The porn industry business model is fascinating and deserves serious study in business schools. Since porn was essentially legalized in the 70s, it has been the most fleet industry in America,  able to adopt new technologies and find new markets. If free Internet pornstar is hurting the industry, why is new porn continued to be produced?

that only the anti-virus software companies make any money on it.

It is the most certain way to infect you computer that I can think of.

I used to watch porn all the time, but now never do.

It' many porn tube places to trust.

Also it's very important to have your own computer anti virus protection already up on your computer before any search!

The site I like the most is xvideos.

but invariably there are links that are not safe and in the midst of surfing around it just takes one false move and suddenly you have FBI Agents ordering you to send them money with a Green Dot Card.

In short, it's a mine field that I'd rather not tread on.

And I always keep my anti-virus programs up to date but as the makers of anti-virus software will tell you, it's always a catch-up game with the malware guys.

my 2 cents:

I run a Linux virtual machine on top of my Windows 7/8/10. Generally speaking, it's much more safer in Linux/Firefox. Worst I can delete that virtual machine and build/copy a new one in 30 min

If they hate the tube sites why do they plead for votes on freeones?

Freeones is not a tube site. They specifically state that they are not a tube site. They are an affiliate site and the links that are posted on their site are to affiliate sites.

If someone's intellectual property is being stolen or misused then I'm all in favor of fighting it.  I had no problem with shutting down the first incarnation of Napster and am totally in favor of chasing down people who steal digital copies of movies or other copyrighted material.

But the problem with porn appears to have more to do with capital versus labor.  I don't believe it is the case that the big porn aggregators such as Pornhub are stealing.  Instead it appears they're making deals with  lots of content producers  that they then provide for free to users and make money by selling either ads or premium site access.  Further, I have seen notes on Pornhub and other sites stating that content had been removed because it was placed on the site without permission. Granted these steps are mostly the results of lawsuits and threats thereof but it's still protective of content producers.

It seems that performers and independent producers need to take control of their content and do what they can to drive traffic to their paid sites. Indeed some producers such as Nubile Films and Viv Thomas appear to allow Pornhub to use short clips in exchange for identifying the producer and thereby hopefully driving traffic to a paid site (again some of these deals apparently were settlements of suits). Or they could work a deal with the aggregators to allow use in exchange for royalties  (which of course could force the aggregators to start charging).  In any event I don't see this changing until the artists and content producers find and exercise some leverage.

Nearly 20 years after many of us learned the word "internet" many content producers are still trying to figure out how to monetize the web. But if Netflix and others have shown anything it's that people will pay if they think they're getting value. Some brave souls in Porn need to step up with a viable business model to challenge the aggregators.

It is all about money. Content publishers are paid by the "tube" sites. The tube sites make money off ads. The girls either can sign a contract or go off on their own and create their own content. Personally speaking those of us here do pay for our porn, just in a different way...

The "tube" sights not only pay content publishers they out & out own a great deal of them.
Just google Mindgeek . PornHub , RedTube & YouPorn are among the "tube" sights they own .
They're also the owners of Brazzers , Digital Playground, Reality King , Twistys and mange the Wicked website

I'm an independent producer (though under a larger company). All the costs of producing the content that goes on my site is covered by me. Some of my shoots have totaled up to about $2,500 (though fortunately that doesn't happen often). It's pretty awful when you spend all that money and time to book talent, book flight(s) and the hotel, book the photographer, buy costumes/clothing/toys/props and then work your damn butt off to make sure the scene is incredible and then see that content posted on a tube site and/or torrent site within a day or two of it being put up on my site. That is lost income for me. The vast majority of people that visit tube sites WILL NOT pay to watch porn. Those are the ignoramuses who tell me on Twitter that they are my "number 1 fan" then post tube site links to my content.

It's also impossible to fight. If you have one scene taken off a tube/torrent site, another scene will pop up on another site within days.

For a couple reasons.

1. They  provide a better product. The vids remain high quality and maintain HD value. Unlike free sites where the scenes are degraded to fuzzy visuals and poor audio

2. I prefer the whole shoot which is gererally 15-40 minutes rather than an edited 3-10 minute clip.

I like porn and am willing to pay for the highest quality. For me it's a simple factor of consumer quality .

I've noticed the major studio's like Digital Playground and Wicked are producing less so I'm assuming the free porn is having an affect.  Too bad
