I am going to Boston for the first time ever soon enough and I am a bit of a foodie.
Any good restaurants that are worth checking out that have a decent wine selection in the financial, back bay part of town?

I loved Towne on Boylston street , and Lucca in the North End. Both really good.
Boston is a great city for good food.
If you like sushi, Fugakyu in Brookline is awesome ....( short cab or train ride from back bay )

I had a client take me to takusan my first trip to Boston and i loved it. I think it is the best sushi i have had in Boston and the cooked items are also fabulous. I have gone there every time i come to Boston even bymyself when I have to Pay!!!!

Completely agree on Sorellina, that would be my first choice. Post 390 is another option as well as Mistral.

www.lespalier.com/ is always nice if you are willing to spend some $$$
Asta is also nice as well.
If you are willing to take a short ride, O Ya by south station (the Leather District), is excellent.
Also, I find that the South End is always great if you are in an eclectic mood, I love the Gaslight, the Beehive, Tremont 647.
The North End is great as well if you want Italian, you just have to check out the restaurants to make sure if they are modern or American traditional (depending on what you want). I love Panza, and unfortunately Marco is now gone
