Yesterday was one of those days when “outside factors” changed a number of peoples schedule's.  Most of the time you don’t know why things happen, but this time I had extra insight.  Luckily the stars were aligned in my favor.

Was scheduled to meet with Kennedy soon after work.  Found two texts from her on my phone as I was ready to leave, one asking if I could delay, another saying “never mind”.  Called her and apparently the previous hobbyist had been delayed in traffic, then decided to cancel due to the traffic failing to clear.  She then said I could come “anytime now” which was a good thing, as I would have been late for another obligation based on the original booking time.  I was only 10 min away by back roads, which were clear.

This morning’s headline in my local paper:  Driver badly hurt after chase leads to crash.
Two crashes, including one with serious injury, were responsible for tying up traffic on Interstate 93 through Andover yesterday afternoon.

You never know which way luck will go.  The other hobbyist ended up taking my original time, we ended up swapping slots.  If he had been a few minutes earlier on 93N he might have had a very different, unhappy experience.  At the end of my workday I was all excited about Kennedy and rushing down stairs with my shower stuff and clothes.  Imagine if I had tripped and fallen …imagine my wife coming to the hospital and finding the Benjamin’s in my pants pocket.
