I guess there is always an unwritten rule for those moments that like everything in this world, require the utmost discretion and quick action.. I either leave the venue or smile and keep walking, I do not want to make anyone uncomfortable or have to explain others I am with, anything.. and yes that happened to me at Publix as well, I pulled my magic and disappeared...specially if you are in the company of your significant other..
When you run into a provider in the real world. I was leaving the Publix as she came in. She smiled and said hello. We chatted briefly.
I ran into Don Johnson once at a Colorado Harley dealer. I was looking over his panhead when he came out and started telling me about it. Conversed about bikes for awhile. Nice guy. He was generous with the folks who did approach him. One young lady was quivering as if she had an orgasm.

if they are out on a dinner date and someone from their civie life recognizes them and wants to chat. It might go like this, "Hi Joe, this is my former neighbor _____ [insert stage name here]. Nice to see you." Thinking to self, "now get the f___ out a here and leave we with my hot companion."

never approach a client when I see one out (and I have) but, I don't mind when people who know me as Wildthing approach me when I'm out. My family knows all about my life too so, the worst thing it does in my case is make me smile :
Be discreet. I have not seen a provider out in public. But I have recognized some strippers out in public. Once was at Wal-Mart, she had her kids with her. So probably not good to approach her. Another time, I saw a stripper at the mall, she also had her son with her. So I didn't way anything. When I saw her at the club later, she said I should have said hello. Another stripper was eating alone at Cici's, I wish I would have approached.
But be prepared. A girl came to visit me at my place and got stopped by my very talkative neighbor before I came along. The neighbor asked how we met. I just said at a party. I am still in my thirties so it still works. I guess I could also say we met online. Like match.com or something.
