I think you come out better staying at another hotel (the Imperial Palace next door still has availability and is right next to Venetian), but you lose out on the chance of bumping into a horny porn star in the elevator or hallway. I'd be curious to know where the girls hang out too. My research says that they stick to the venue hotel (the Venetian) and the expo for the most part. I went to Expo for three days, alot of fun, so many hot porn stars, it's like being a kid in a candy store.
