B.B. King Just passed away in Vegas....

I just Broke out and I'm playing the old classic "King of the Blues" album which is one of my all time favorites because it's all about women breaking our hearts. Just cracked open a special bottle of Pappy Van Winkle for a sip (or two) and listening to some great blues.

If you don't have this album, you can listen it to here:

Keep in mind this album was produced in 1960 before all of the digital age altering where it's all about pretty faces and no true musical talents; not to mention racism at the time. B.B. is strumming the classic Gibson and he could make a song out of nothing. All of these songs are his (which no longer happens nowadays).

About a little over a decade ago he just showed up out of nowhere in this little club I was at with my future ex-wife called the Back Door in Chicago and just and started performing for absolutely free which was an incredible experience. I've been a fan ever since.

Yep... nothing better than kicking back, sipping on some Pappy Van Winkle and enjoying some Blues music

I knew he was sick just mentioned him recently on the news that he was not in good health.
But that is terrible to hear he passed.
Thanks for sharing the link.I was just listening to some Blues this evening with a gent who is a huge blues fan I am going to have to throw on some B.B King.
Such a talented man who has provided so much good music through the many years he was an artist.
And even though he was such a well-known celebrity a really nice guy.

Yes it is sad that the thrill is gone!!

I always used to make fun of his name as "bare-back king" but he grew on me since then and got to enjoy his blues music.

(Quote from B.B.)

B.B. was a true musician and artist. Always exploring; never resting.

"Everything I record, I just try to sound like me and come up with songs that suit what I do, and then just go for it."  B.B. King

A singular talent that blessed those who took the time to pause in this busy world and appreciate the gift he shared with us.

To close, he sums it up nicely with:

"If there was no ladies, I wouldn't wanna be on the planet. Ladies, friends, and music - without those three, I wouldn't wanna be here."

A tip of the hat, and a raise of the glass, to a lover of life and music!

...despite his health issues, he was able to gift us for a lifetime of musical pleasure. He's gone, but his music and contributions will live on forever.  :)  Let's celebrate this man's gifts to us!

I saw this man in Hawaii a long time ago after returning from Southeast Asia.  He was preceded on stage by someone I can't really remember now but who was a very hyper, good but hyper.  And then came the smooth cool of B.B. King's magical blues. The healing power of his music and other blues artists began for me.  Will never forget it and will always be thankful for blues in my life.

Saw him perform live twice, once in NYC at Avery Fisher Hall, the other at the Saratoga Jazz Festival.   Ah, the memories...

RIP, BB.  I'm sure they're having a great concert tonight in a better place...
