If so, just go to sunset park. I'm sure you can find someone that will let you join their BBQ, frisbee game and etc. I travel by myself a lot and always go to parks with some homemade old bay potato salad in the summer months.

Well I was supposed to be there in vegas last week but had to cancel and now rescheduled it for the week of memorial day. I arrive on memorial day itself, not really the way I want to spend a holiday in airports and planes but oh well.  I tried searching for events going on in vegas during memorial day but only came up with a bunch of pool parties and night club events (just not my style). But I did see the vegas 51's have a home game that night. Never been to a minor league game before and was wondering has anyone been to a game there? Is it a good time, worth checking out. plus its dollar hotdog night so it probably the closest thing im going to have compared to memorial day cook out at home. Or does anyone have any suggestions of things to do on memorial day besides hitting the casinos, I have the rest of the week for that. all suggestions welcome. thanks

Ahhh, sweet Alyssa.  I can see you walking up with your potato salad.  Once all the GUYS get a look a you all the frisbee, softball, football, etc would immediately STOP.  And the drooling would begin.  ;)

I love the minor league experience. The 51's have a great atmosphere and are an excellent value. I usually get seats down the first base line right behind the bullpen. The players will chat with you and the seats are super cheap. The skill level is obviously not at major league level, but close, and they are all hustling hard to get their shot at the show.

There's also a couple of concerts at the Hard Rock that week that might be worth checking out, depending how long you will be in town. The Joint at Hard Rock is a great little venue for concerts.

Babe's Sports bar has live comedy on Monday nights. Not sure what their Memorial day lineup is yet, but they have had some pretty decent names there recently.

This town has so many things to offer, it's impossible to say "there's nothing to do". It's why I love living here.

Love baseball, too.  I am a Dodger fan, though, and our AAA team is in Oklahoma City.  Dodger games are blocked in Las Vegas.

thanks for the input you two. since I land early enough I actually think I might try to squeeze in both of those on memorial day. I looked up the park and see they have frisbee golf and never tried that before so maybe I can tag along a group needing a extra. then afterwards I think im going to get all checked in at the hotel and spend the evening at the ballpark with some dogs and a few beers.

two little doggies and some potato salad, that will be me. ;)
last year i was without doggies, but i stopped by the cemetery next to the park to take flowers to families that were visiting loved ones that have gone to their afterlife.
i plan to do the same this year, with doggies. :)

I will keep an out for you. your earlier response got me in the mood to try some old bay potato salad. never had it before but I do love old bay. since im not far from the Maryland and Delaware beaches blue crabs with lots of old bay and a case of beer are always a summer time favorite for me and my friends.

Literally on the Chesapeake Bay.
Well, I was born in a hospital, but ... ;)
I love going out on the boat. Crabbing is one of my favorite things to do!
I'm always sure to bring back crab chips when I visit back east. :)

YUM!
