I guess I must have some serious curmudgeon in me because I can't stand the Academy Awards. It's like they throw themselves their own party on TV and spend all night slapping each other and their own selves on the back.
On the other hand I'll sit down and watch Sarah Miles or Marlon Brando all day long.
So in the end, well hell.
I have officially abandoned all awards. Never could stand the Oscars, though I am a big fan of John Stewart. Having contributed significantly to a project nominated for more than 30 awards and not have my name appear on a single one has permanently put me off all awards. Having been on the committe that reviews, evaluates and determines the winners of awards, I know what a sham it really is.
The projected winners are easy to figure out. It all comes down to who made the most politically correct movie designed to rebuke some group or person they deem unpopular and wrong on some chosen issue. Case in point, Michael Moore " Shame on you President Bush! Shame on you!" Wahhh!WahhWahh! I can care less who wins some trumped up Oscar. It lost its luster many years ago. Hollywood insdiers prefer to make a social statement these days instead of celebrating excellent acting skills or wonderful screen writing. Ho hum! I`ll watch Seinfeld reruns instead of award ceremonies.
