when a provider asks for references, what kind of info do you want to give her? Names, email addresses?  Is that cool with other providers to give out their info?

Website of the provider. When you last saw her, something that may trigger her mind as to remembering your session etc. It is best for you to ask your provider friend if it is ok to use her as a ref. Any good provider that likes your business should provide this small favor for you. Just make sure to see your provider friend again as a thank you for her vouching for you. It is a mutual favor and courtsey. Hugs,Devin

You say.. I saw Ciara of Buffalo. Her email is la la la ...and her site is la la la la

I then say...

Yes Joe schmoe is cool and very nice.

I love references that include the following:

website
contact info (email and phone-if appropriate)
general where/when you saw them last
how they would remember you (ie: she knows me by Phil, the "Ice Cream" man).

Also, CC the correspondence to the references you are using when you email the lady you are trying to schedule with.

Hope this helps!

Megan hit a bullseye....all that is wonderful information...I always tell my 'friends' I will be happy to give them references....and tell them what to tell a lady to remind me who they are...works every time for me :) I've never not remembered someone as long as they knew 'how' I always remember them!

Most ladies are reference friendly. A few aren't. To each his own.

I usually ask for your name, city, contact info that you used to reach her if different and her contact info. I prefer email rather than phone. That way if they want to respond to they can and it gives us both a chance to check each other out.

And sometimes I remember people different ways. I usually tell them their "nickname" if they need a reference that way its easy for me to get them verified to someone else. This really comes in handy for people with common names like Mike, Steve, Bob, etc.
If in doubt, just ask your previous friend if she is comfortable with it. I've only heard a few decline. Most are more than happy to help out.
