OK, probably showing my age there.  However, when you get a chance to think things out and even edit them, it's amazing how much better it sounds.

How many of us have said, "I wish I can take those words back"?  It seems to me that we all just get to think about things before we open our mouth in a board vs. a chat room.

...the chat rooms are such a bore?  Time to time I log into the chat rooms only to hear that people are going to see such and such that night, or going to bed, or have a headache...yaaaawwwwnnnn.  It is true that I rarely see the same people who post on the boards in the chat rooms.  Am I missing something?

On the boards, you focus on topics that have input from thousands of contributors.  You also have time to think and shape the responses and even edit them.  Boards are a static form of communication, in that, a brilliant topic may stay active for days, whereas in chat, 5 minutes later the topic has scroll off the screen, never to be seen again.

Boards and chat have two distinct functions.  Chat is more of a social scene, much like meeting at the drinking fountain at the office.  How often do you have meaningful conversations there?  However, chat has been the place where I have met some of the most incredible women that I have spent many hours and even days with outside of chat.

I'm active on both the boards and in chat, and I realize the value of each of them.  Can chat be boring?  Yes, certainly... Is it worth my time hanging in there?  I'll leave it up to you to guess.

trying to engage people in meaningful conversations.  But I get your point.

...turns to hockey, I am so out of there.
