What's a retrograde ejaculation?

Curious... My doctor just gave me an Rx for Flomax. I was looking at the possiblle side effects and a few are "an erection lasting more than 4 hours" and  "retrograde ejaculations".... Hmmmm..
Sounds familiar..

Looking for input from others who may have used it. Do you still take Viagra? Is it necessary? Does Flomax really mess up your sex life or help it.. or.. no effect..

Thanks

I just started flomax about a week ago as I was having trouble with a steady stream and it is helping there, unfortunately I have not had much of a sex life.  I hope others will chime in with more help.

Good Luck,
Bordello

Do you mind me asking why he gave it to you?  Just comparing it to myself.

I tried it about a year or so ago.  I did not stay on it as long as they advise to achieve the full effect for slow flow. I did not like the dizziness it caused when I would stand up or move suddenly.
I did not notice any sexual side effects, good or bad

...if you are just having a difficult time finding your happy ending, you and your lady might try female condoms.  Many gentlemen, are so used to unprotected sex with their wife/so, etc, that when a male condom is used, all is lost in translation.  Female condoms are wonderful; for both involved.

I tried Flomax for BPH and my sinuses got so congested I could hardly breath.  You might want to try Cialis 5mg daily, it has been approved by the FDA for treatment of BPH and the side-effects are much more desirable. ;)

I'm taking flomax, and for what I use it, it works wonders.  When I forget to take it, next day I have the original symptoms again, but while taking, it works great.  No issues with viagra, just don't take them within one hour of each other. HTH.

I've been taking flomax for years.  Probably helps with bladder problems.  Stick with it and give it a chance.  It's pretty benign.

I have detected no complications one way or the other with sexual activity. That is another whole can of worms.  Just for the record I favor levitra and cialis (separately).  Levitra for me is the most predictable and reliable.  Cialis has a little more natural feel but can be temperamental.  I never liked viagra.  Having a small window of opportunity always seemed an inconvenience.  For me levitra is good for 24 hours, cialis 36.

I've been using Viagra for 10 years and Flomax for the last 4 years for BPH.  I also had a TUNA procedure around 6 years ago.  About a month after starting Flomax I began having "retrograde ejaculations".  Not every time, and I never know if it was an outside or inside realease, it feels great either way,  My SO swallows so unless she comments on how good it tastes or something like that I don't know.  When I talked with my Urologist he said "retrograde ejaculations" were no problems, but it would ruin my chances for starring in Porn movies!

From the Mayo Clinic web site:

Retrograde ejaculation occurs when semen enters the bladder instead of emerging through the penis during orgasm. Although you still reach sexual climax, you may ejaculate very little or no semen. This is sometimes called a dry orgasm. Retrograde ejaculation isn't harmful, but it can cause male infertility. Treatment for retrograde ejaculation is generally only needed to restore fertility.

I formerly took flomax and did experience the "retrograde ejaculation" problem.  I switched to uroxatral, which seems just as good for my symptoms, and does not cause retrograde ejaculations.  Can't comment on any interaction with viagra.

other than that, the benefits are positive.   I took it for 10+ years
