I don't think any would die, but it would effect their bottom line.

Getting a room for a tryst of any sort is a part of their business.  They know it.  For paid ladies, they never want to be seen as openly cooperating with them-- then it may become criminal conspiracy.

Howard Johnson's, the first nationwide hotel chain, created a scandal in the 1950s when it reported that its daily occupancy rate was 110 percent.  In other words, 10 percent of the rooms changed guests twice in one day.  Everybody who read that stat knew how those rooms were being used.

Just wondering.. what percentage of an average hotel's bookings are directly related to this industry?

I was at one hotel the other day waiting for a call, and within a 10 minute span, saw a lot of men in upper-class cars waiting and talking on their cell phones.  WHo knew how many were (or were not) waiting.

If this industry disappeared, do you think the impact to the hotel business would be severe enough such that they would go under? (some)

No. There are many business related aspects going on. Corporations, meetings banquets.. If alot of their biz was from this, they wouldnt try to keep us away..  Hotels are for business people. By the way. Those were all my calls waiting :)

Kidding.

I hobby most of the time when on the road, but only one night of my stays regardless of how long they are. I travel for business, I would not travel for the purpose of hobbying.

I have never gotten a room strictly for the hobby, always for business.  My $ to hotels wouldn't change, but my hotel rooms would be much lonlier.
