a provider I know spent a couple days there and thought was very nice.  Her downside was that it seemed to be in a cell phone dead zone.  Hard to make or receive calls.

The walk from the Hotel to the strip is about 1/4 of a mile.   I have heard from cabbies that some women have taken a cab for the ride rather than take that poorly lit walk.

I have avoided staying there just because I enjoy being in a casino/hotel set up.

Based upon reviews on the travel website, I'd guess you'd like it.  Be sure to try Strip burger on an outside corner of the Fashion Show mall.  Good burgers and fries and great happy hour deals.

Hello everyone.
I'm posting because you all are a wealth of information. I'm coming to Vegas soon and took a chance on Hotwire and drew the Trump Plaza. I've never stayed there nor have I ever seen the hotel in person. All I know is that it does not have a casino which is not a big deal and that it is to the West of the North Strip. I've read that there is only one restaurant but it is close to many convenient locations. Any comments or observations?
Thanks everyone!

Personally I always wondered about the Trump. My assumption would be that it is really nice, but honestly I always preferred  the Cosmo or the Aria.. all of the rooms at Aria are corner rooms. If you like the trump let me know, I ma have to come check it out .. hehe

Hi Victoria. I've heard good things about the Cosmo and Aria. On the north strip I like the Wynn and Palazzo. This time I thought it would be fun to use Hotwire where the hotel is hidden until paid for. I'll let you know if I like it so you can check it out. Wink wink.

Just kidding!  Personally, I prefer being on the strip with tables at my beck and call.  I believe it still has security at the elevator towers.  Otherwise, it's a good value if all you want is a room in Vegas "sorta" near the strip.

Thanks Ol Desperado. Got a toupee chuckle out of me. I prefer to be on the strip since I like to walk to conveniently located places. I play a little Blackjack. I mostly sightsee, see shows, drink adult beverages and enjoy the shoe shoe. Thanks for the input.

If you have the misfortune of being on the wrong side of the building you will hear the train go by every 20 minutes at night. I was on the 26th floor and still didn't sleep a wink due to the noise of the train.
Pros
Great location, kitchenette, huge glorious bathroom, nice lounge downstairs
Cons
Valet only, next to the train tracks

Thanks for the input Heather. I especially appreciate the train information. I'll ask to stay away from the train side. That's strange that they only have valet. I wonder if I'll use the kitchenette? Looks like the rooms have a bar height counter with chairs. Could be good for entertaining. Thanks again.

Thanks for the input Up to no good. I'll keep the cell phone information in mind. That would suck. I'll check out the burger joint you mentioned. I'm also going to check out sushi and Mexican restaurants that were suggested on this Board. Since it may be dimly lit to the strip, guess I'll be cabbing it at night. Thanks again.

Thanks. I'll check it out. Never heard of it till now. There is a burger place upstairs between the Palazzo and the Venetian. It was good.

You can always find it on hotwire (I've booked it some many times I can guess which one it is now) for a decent price, last week I paid $80 plus the 25 dollar resort fee, and upgraded to a supurb strip view 1 bedroom corner suite for only 75 buck! Jet tubs, huge room with bedroom closed off from the living room and kitchen, second bathroom with shower for guest. Impecible service every time I stay, aaaaaand the big one for me, they are super pet friendly. If you need a casino near by, the wynn is across the street with a free shuttle provided. Top that!

Thank you Marie. I paid $95/night. I could use a tub with jets and a room upgrade. Wish I could have my pet for the pet friendly part. Thanks again for your input.

It's next to Fashion Show Mall, and right down from Wynn, Encore, TI, Vientian/Palazzo and the center of the strip!!! The rooms are beautiful and spacious. I say go for it!

Thanks Holly! I've already gone for it but had never heard much talk about the hotel. I've stayed at the Wynn, Palazzo and Venetian but had never seen the Trump. I'll look forward to the spacious room. I do like the mall there and anticipate shopping there. Probably take a cab to the shows. Thanks again.

excellent location, across the street from Wynn, walking distance to food, casinos, mall and easy access to rooms if you decide to have company wink, wink.... Now go have fun...

Thanks Franchesca. Viewed your site. Looks like you work hard at keeping fit. I'm going to have fun! Already booked and waiting for the day which is coming soon. You mentioned easy room access. Do they have security at the elevator? I like company. I've stayed at the Wynn and Palazzo. Also shopped at the north strip mall a few times. Thanks again Franchesca for the input.

And I had one of my BEST hobby experiences there.  Great lounge right down by the door that is cozy and easy to meet your friends.  Impeccable service.  Clean big rooms (not suites, but big rooms).  Loved the bathrooms!!!.

I did not upgrade, but was more than pleased.  Walked to the fashion mall, and if you are interested, there are "adult boutiques" just down the street  and around the corner (dont' walk, but an Easy easy drive)

Hope you have fun

Thanks Bufpiz! I have to ask. What is an adult boutique? I'm a little slow but can be educated. Lol. I feel much better after hearing from you and the others. I was a little disappointed when Hotwire revealed the secret hotel. But now I'm looking to forward to trying the Trump hotel. I've been to the Fashion Mall and always shop there especially the Starbucks in front. After hearing from you and others, it sounds like the cozy downstairs lounge is a good place. Now I'm excited about my new Trump adventure. Thanks for the information. I enjoy this board. You all rock.

aka a sex shop selling sex toys ,porn , sometimes lingerie ,etc . Depending on the store and location can be upscale like the Hustler Hollywood in LA (they even have a coffee bar lol ) or very seedy .

Thanks! Makes sense now. We don't use the term adult boutique here. We call the store by name and everyone knows. Thanks for letting me know. Maybe I should have morning or afternoon coffee there. Lol. Last year I learned about Gun Oil being a sex lubricant. Before, I thought it was to lubricate my gun. So I've learned one more term on this Board. Sex Boutique.

Remember to ask for an upgrade to a strip view bedroom so you don't hear the train noise when you check in.
The hotel provides free ride to Wynn (or any places) and pick you up after (if you give the driver good tips).
Security checks at the elevators around 12:00 to 2:00 AM.  Others already pointed out the pros and cons.  Personally, I was happy with my stay there.
Have fun

Thanks JC. I'll make sure to get the strip view. I hear that the train is quite noisy. Thanks for the security info too. I may have some friends dropping by.
