I won't use a phone that's smarter than me so I still have this...

END OF MESSAGE

I'm posting here because the GD board is so nasty, plus us old guys have to stick together.  The recent posts about wives fiinding out make me wonder.  My wife is not suspicious or tech savvy but I wondered what she would find on my new Samsung Galaxy.  To my shock and surprise there in "contacts" were all the ladies I had ever called or e-mailed with, including some who I never saw.  Seeing something like "SexyCarolina" in contacts might make one suspicious and I wouldn't want to even imagine how I might respond to questions about that.  It turns out that my phone is so smart it grabbed all the e-mail addresses from my outlook account even though I hadn't added them to my contacts.  I know I should have a hobby-only phone but it's an infrequent activity for me and I'm sure I'm not alone in failing to do so.  I deleted all those hobby contacts and I'm hoping that some of you can avoid an unpleasant encounter by checking, too.

Be careful out there.

For any number of reasons you should have a pin on your phone. On the G5 it is really simple. This helps protect you if it is lost or stolen. If you think that would make her suspicious tell her the pin and suggest she do the same for hers.

I agree that the GD board a real rat race.

Sim cards are easier to hide than a phone. Keeps the info off your cell phone bill. But, you still need to erase the log on the phone itself

All of this came out when companies started putting GPS on company vehicles-then company telephones, then it became common place on all phones, etc... so now we can't hide from anyone or anything for an hour or so-it really sucks !  And with the further advances in technology it is already possible to show up on video entering or leaving your favorite in call apartment, house, or hotel which can end up as evidence in a termination or a divorce !  It will be interesting to see what else evolves technologically over the next 5 to 10 years that will trip us up as we pursue an hour of off the record entertainment !!!!  No Place To Hide-No Where To Run !!!!

When I first started in this fun biz, I figured the more exposure the better (advertising, exposure that is...well ...skin too maybe. lol) I posted my first profile on escorts.com, then decided to try out the new social media 'linked-in' , and created a Facebook page. BAD MOVE! I had to take the LI and the FB page down becuase it crossed referenced my personal and other professional profiles with my fun profile- So the two programs were asking to be 'friends and linked to' random people and out of my control! I shut that all down quick as two bunnies fxxk'!
I prefer to keep things simple..........One thing I have done to help be my web address is fairly innocuous if seen by the unknowing...I have been the recipeint of a couple of wives calls when the fine gent got overwhelmingly guilty and confessed....not fun. and when one snooping wife found my name on her husbands phone. mmm A.Anderson is a better listing to use then Adelle . or Al or Adam or Andy......omg....I am rambling on.....I better go to bed!!!!!

I have a laptop, so what do I need a smart phone for? I like the keypad of my slider "dumb" phone. Much easier to text.

like dropping it and watching the screen get all cracked up so you can look real cool to all your friends.

And constantly looking for places to charge it because the battery drains after ten minutes of using the global positioning app.

Man, you are missing out on so much in life without one of these.

Want to buy mine?  (CHEAP!)

Guys I am in the same boat.  I don't think I want a smart phone or that I could ever figure out how to use it.  My good old LG V8000 is worn out and not working properly.  I just got a Jitterbug and I HATE IT!  So many things wrong with it I barely know where to start.  The contacts list will not alphabetize the contacts, and only has room for 50.  The txt msgs only show two brief lines of txt.  The rest is lost.  It goes on and on.  Does anyone know of a really good quality  old style cell phone being made today? Big heavy case, robust buttons, sensible software? I am just about at the end of my last wit!  And just to put in some content relevant to this site, I have a date scheduled for tomorrow afternoon with my very most favorite ATF and I have no idea if I'm going to be able to receive her txt msgs on this pos shitterbug phone!

plan $50 a month. Unlimited text, calls. Three phone choices. Simple flip phone Samsung is the least expensive. Durable, reliable, easy to use. Similar in looks to the one posted above in this thread. (BigPapasan posted the pic I think.) It meets your criteria.

For a hobby phone I don't have a suggestion. There are many threads on this on the Newbie board. Try doing a search there.

Kind of related and funny.  I remember back when electronic levels first came out, I was at a lumber yard and an old carpenter was in there and the subject of the "new" levels came up.  He made the comment that he wouldn't use a tool that was smarter than he was.  One of the quick witted sales guys said, "how come you're still using a hammer then!"

and neither one crosses the line to "touch" the regular phone OR regular email account...

Absolutely!!!  The old Hobby phone & the new smart phone NEVER cross paths.  Can be a challenge sometimes when the gal almost insists on a text, but.......

and you don't have to register your real name.

Straight talk wireless is great as well. I have a nice smart phone with unlimited talk, text and 3gb data for $45 per month and you can use any name and address as well. Depending on the phone you buy, depends on whether you get AT&T or Verizon Wireless service. You can also use your own phone number and phone as well but have to buy a $40 conversion kit.

I have only used a trac phone for almost 10. I traded in and got a flip tracfone last year that does internet and all. I got double minutes for life so I paid 29.99 and got 240 minutes. I only have it on when I am talking to a provider or on my way to a date. It is such an inconvenience to try to text. But some providers insist. I have an Iphone 5 for civvie.
I have heard about the "blackphone" that uses VPN encryption. it is new, expensive, not sure about net and all. $800 but that is what a new smartphone costs anyway. Not bad with a contract, but outright buy- ouch! eom I meant to warn about iphone, the cloud and sharing. If you have videos or pics, xxx rated, they will automatically appear on your wife's ipad or mac or iphone unless you turn it off! Embarrassing! and fodder for divorce! be careful. PLEASE!

If you live in an area that has these, they mark your digital footprints. One of the first things a divorce lawyer in Illinois goes for is your I-pass records. We all leave digital finger prints all over the place. Be careful out there.

There is a new service called Burner that provides temporary phone numbers.  You can use one once, twice or for a period time. You do have to have a credit card but I used a prepaid one.  Nothing is foolproof but it is an alternative.

If you don't have a transponder, they take a shot of your license plate and mail you a bill.  (With a "convenience" fee tacked on.  How nice of them!)

So, to remain anonymous, you'll have to  rent a car ($ plus paper trail), or beg, borrow, or steal a car to use for hobbying.

I don't leave any contacts on my hobby phone.  If found, it's an emergency phone for the car.  I only have a number in there when I'm going to a date, erase before I leave her.  It does mean I must get internet access to look up numbers prior but it's been working for 6 years.  In case the crap hits the fan, I can drop the trac fone in front of a tire...  after 3 years, the phone owes me nothing.

I have a hobby phone, and haven't had a problem yet, but wonder where or what others do to keep their phones from being found.  The best I've come up with is that I found it at work and need to turn it in to someone.

You should have a hobby e-mail account that you don't access directly on your phone but only through the web. There's also a terrific app for iPhone and I wonder if it's available for Android -- "My Secret Apps" installs itself as "My Apps" and holds photos, videos, contacts, notes, a web browser and so on. You have two different PINs on it, your usual PIN that your wife probably knows that opens the app looking like there's nothing in it, like it's never been used, it's just sitting there for nothing. Then there's a different PIN that opens to all your information. It probably wouldn't fool LE but it should be enough to fool your wife.

Above all be careful! Delete contacts from your normal contacts list and recent incriminating phone numbers and texts, as well as recent destinations from your GPS.

Lots of guys swear by burner phones but I don't because a second phone would only raise questions; my wife would never believe I have a second phone for work. If you have a burner phone make it inaccessible but don't keep it a secret; it will raise a huge amount of suspicion if she finds out about it and you haven't told her.

Also be really nice to everyone, especially her. Don't get into other illegal or addictive stuff. Be the kind of guy that everyone would say of, "no I don't believe he would do something like that. Not him!"

Be careful, be scrupulous, and THINK. The consequences of getting caught are huge.
