Is this a real story from LRJ:

part of the story:
Uniformed officers were at the Fashion Show mall on the Strip late Friday to meet Uber driver Michael Elsner with a ticket.

Five unmarked white Nevada Taxicab Authority vehicles surrounded his blue Ford Focus as he was driving east on Fashion Show Drive about 3:30 p.m. He was pulled over while trying to drop off two passengers. Two undercover officers wore black ski masks

Seems to be all the rage that Uber cranked up in LV this past weekend.  Let's see how long before the powerful taxi/limo lobby gets them to cease and desist!  So has anyone tried it yet.  Are they allowed to pick-up in the taxi area of the Hotels?

Just curious...we've got lots of Uber users from other parts of the country coming to town this week and any intel would be nice.

The Taxi/Limo industry is essentially akin to the ....dare I say it....Mob!!   I've attached an article that states you can not be picked up by Uber on the Strip, i.e. at a Strip Hotel.  But why can't they simply do it like anyone else who picks up a friend at a Hotel?   Yea, this is going to be a hot topic in Vegas for the foreseeable future.

Uber is a $24 billion company that never backs down from a fight. Albeit LV maybe their biggest challenge I wouldn't bet against them.  The state of Virginia has outlawed them entirely but Uber said screw you and continued to operate.  Uber has over run SF, New York, Boston and Chicago all with heavy taxi unions and industry.

No money is exchanged. You know who your driver will be and they know who you are before picking up. I prefer the "black car" but they have the less expensive rides (UBER x and UBER y) that look like your friend is picking you up. I pick me up MUCH quicker than a cab and are MUCH cleaner than a cab.

oo ooo oooo
i hate a UBER overnight coach and sofa sitting service
with jacuzzi pool BBQ pit

any takers ???????????

Uber is another example why I love America. It allows people who come up with good ideas to try and implement them and make money.

I have always argued (and usually upset a lot of people)...that people should be allowed to use their god given talents.

i.e. Athletes use their better athletic abilities for profit. Models use their talents for money...why shouldn't ladies who exhibit a better ability to provide pleasure for men be allowed to legally profit from their abilities.......

At least we have TER to help connect men to those exceptionally talented women :)

CABS
Another example of Vegas cabs being overpriced.....a normal fare from airport to strip is 15 to 20. During a recent trip to New Orleans, i took a cab from their airport to the riverfront...total was a FLAT fee of 31. The New Orleans was a much better deal. The cabs in Vegas travel, maybe 2 miles from airport to strip....The cab ride from NO airport to Downtown is 17 miles!!!!

Can you imagine what a 17 mile trip in Vegas would cost ????

OK, so I am all over the place in this post...Just had a coffee and fingers are going crazy.
