60 and Over

One happy  Octogenarian While I have commented before about my relatively newhobby or whatever term might be used to describe my pursuitto happy endings, I think some background info may be of interest to some of the over sixty guys.
First, I want you to know I didn't come West in a covered wagon. My story starts about 40 years ago when some cancer cells were seen in my prostate after a BPH. The doc put me in the "watchful waiting" mode. My PSA over the years remained in the "safe don't get excited range" until about 5 years ago when the PSA went up to 8.5 or so. After a series of procedures( whole body scans, biopsies, and other medical witchcraft) to identify a location to irradiate, chemically treat or excise the "cancer." Nothing was found and 5 weeks later my PSA dropped back to around 3.something. Back to watchful waiting.About a year ago the psa spiked up to 9.1. New urologist, without any additional tests declared that I should get a chemical treatment with Eligard (Leuprolide acetate) (spelling?) I showed him my history but he  brushed it aside and told me that at my age anything he could do would cause more damage than good. This was rather frightening and I let him give me the shot of Eligard and was scheduled to get a follow up shot 3 months later. What this chemical does is to block the production of testosterone. Sort of a chemical castration :(. Side effects included hot flashes, lack of any sexual abilities, deep near suicidal depression. When it came time for the booster shot, I refused it. I didn't want to live feeling like that.Back to watchful waiting. What has happened since is that my
T level is starting to come up and PSA remains low. My sexual activities are more and more getting back to normal. Thanks to
several of Arizona's favorite ladies my encounters are super! A recent duo to celebrate my 82nd birthday was great. If this message is Too Much Info forgive me. I hope it helps some.
I DON'T mean for anyone to ignore their Urologist's suggestions but if you have any doubts check with your primary Care Doctor--I did! I knew the risks. I haven't used any testosterone treatments and my T is slowly coming back up.

I am 64 years old and starting hormone (testosterone) pellet therapy.
I start 2 months ago and slowly fell the effect.
you feel your body changing in a good way.

I had discussed this with my Primary Care Doc and  because of prostate cancer cells actually being detected years ago we both felt it would be unwise for me.  Good luck and I hope it works for you.

Thanks for the link to the study. This could be very important to me.

There are many "male enhancement" medicines being promoted nowadays.  Some are snake oil.  My PCP put me on testosterone dissolved in almond oil, a medicine that has to be made up at a compounding pharmacy. You simply rub it into your skin twice a day.  It has had a good effect on increasing my libido, which had been waning and making me feel less alive and less like myself.  There can be side effects, so I get my blood work done at least yearly and change dosage as needed.  But overall it's a good thing and I recommend it if you feel your libido waning.

Thanks to the OP for your story. You really have to use common sense and your own best judgment when dealing with the medical community
