EXACTLY why deposits are a bad idea. A PS could have 1000 good reviews and something in her life could happen and your deposit could disappear.

But you're right - we need to hear the aftermath to find out if there was a valid excuse and if she's made it up to him or refunded his deposit.

This seems to be an age old discussion... things happen in everyone's lives that could cause an appointment to not happen. How often does a hobbyist book an appointment with a lady, (PS or provider,) and then cancel or no show regardless of a good reason... (wife didn't go out with her sister as planned, kids got sick, boss demanding overtime, car trouble, cold feet, whatever the case may be.) Do you gentlemen (only the ones that complain about deposits,) think that our time is any less important than yours? Is the inability on our part to make up for the loss of income because of some situation, valid or not, on your part any less painful? Is partial payment any less missed than the greater part not paid or able to be made up? Some guys want it all... you want PSE's to go independent to bring the cost down - yet you don't want to front funds to prove that you are genuinely interested so the lady can cover her airfare, hotel, ground transportation and such out of your deposit instead of her pocket... (something that would have been covered by the 40% booking fee that you complaining you want to save by not booking through any number of agencies she could be booking through, so that she can come to your town so your fantasy can be fulfilled...

Ugh! It seems most ladies are willing to refund or reschedule if it is her fault. Yes, you will see "non-refundable" on many websites in reference to deposits. But honestly, that is there so Joe Schmo doesn't book, send deposit, and cancel at the last minute and expect to not be responsible. If you can't make it to an appointment - simply ask to reschedule with her for another mutually beneficial time. Remember, for all of you guys out there that complain about your "preferences" there are sacrifices you must pay in order to get what you want... the way you want it.

I know Rebecca Lord. I have seen her personally 3 times. She is always prompt & precise about appointments. Something must have happened to have caused this. There are 2 sides to a story, let's hear hers. Knowing her, I am certain she will reschedule with this guy or refund his money. She is a very classy, honest girl. I know she would not just blow somebody off to take the money & run. That's not her.

having a few personal friends who are Porn Stars they sometimes flake and when they do it's a big blow-up.  

So while I really understand how many assholes are in this hobby and the need for advanced deposits, I have also seen the sometimes unreliable, late and no-show providers.  One example was a provider flaming me because I had the audacity to be angry that she didn't show or even have the courtesy to call and cancel.  

It's always best to do your home work for this hobby like any other investment.

I understand your position Rockmehard, but I have to play my position as usual, (that of devil's advocate,) and ask... in your anger - did you post some nasty statement about her reliability on a public forum FIRST before trying to make amends with her? Did you call her in a vile tone of voice or send an email that could be viewed as threatening? If so, her attitude could have been more reactionary if anything else. Now let me state this, I am NOT defending her or any other person that flakes or treats another's money and time lightly. But I do find it frustrating when a guy is quick to ruin a girl's reputation in the court of public opinion without consideration for the "whole story." As they say, there's always 3 sides to every story... his, hers and the truth. Hell, I had a guy in Boston once show up at my doorstep, look me in the eye and tell me that I wasn't the girl in my pictures. I proceeded to show him the ENTIRE set on my laptop, and he commented "I guess you could be her," and left. Do you think he was refunded his money??? Hell no! I had a guy send me a deposit for a 7 hour once that confirmed the night before, and when the time came - he did NOT show up. I called him for hours... left a few emails, concerned more that something had happened to him rather than he opted not to show up. As a result, I lost several THOUSAND dollars from an appointment I was supposed to be doing... He called a few days later saying he chickened out and asking if I would refund him the deposit. Do you think I refunded him the measley 25% I asked as security afterwards...?

Another point for providers on this issue - on the issue of security, LE in most states at present still doesn't do deposits. All of their verifiable information will check out - but as of yet that one little thing called a deposit saves our asses... (that & instinct of course.) I don't think a single hobbyist can come up with a good enough excuse to counter that...

Now on another token, you guys just don't know how many times I've heard stories of guys offering to pay for an entire session up front via Paypal or CC and then doing a chargeback - saying they never made the charge. Then the poor girl whose given so much of herself is left in the lurch.

Everytime I hear a guy say that a girl not refunding a deposit is commiting fraud and should be reported - it makes me laugh. With the sprouting of online "communities" such as this - I think people have forgotten what we all are viewed as by the societal right, individuals participating in an illegal activity. Where in most stats a "john" is outted and ridiculed just the the "whore" when caught...

Let's stop fighting over what should and shouldn't be and stick to what makes us most comfortable...

Hm, not an excuse but a question: assuming that were the only reason you asked for a deposit, would you still ask for a deposit if you could verify the guy wasn't LE.  For example, through a referral from another provider?

In general, I think this whole debate over deposits is something like the debate over which is better chocolate ice cream or vanilla.

Everyone is going to have their preferences.  The providers are going to ask for deposits or not.  For whatever reason, they've decided to do so.  Hobbyists are going to pay the deposit, or not.  And they have their own reasons for their choice.

This isn't much different from booking a hotel room - some hotels require a deposit and will charge your credit card for the first night as soon as you book.  Other hotels won't.  You can either do business with them or not.

It would depend on several issues:

1) Who is the provider - some providers don't ask ANY questions when booking an appointment. (Of course, this goes on to another age old debate in the hobby - to give up your personal information to a lady or agency or not.) If she is someone that is known to not ask for any details or a provider that is unknown I would probably still ask for a deposit. If she is a Jane Doe provider that I've never heard of before I would definitely still ask for a deposit.

2) How many times has she seen the gent? - Was it a one night stand or is he a "regular." Managing to show up once is certainly not evidence that he'll do it again.

3) Has he ever canceled or postponed an appointment for ANY reason? - If he has ever had "something come up something probably will.

4) Is he married? - As much as I prefer seeing men that are attached, guys that are married tend to have a higher rate of cancellations than non-married clients. The wife tends to screw up the best "laid" plans...

5) Has he sent me emails in the past about setting something up and NOT followed through in actually booking one? (That ones a classic... the guy that emails 15 times about setting up an appintment each time I get ready to come into town then suddenly disappears without booking, confirming or sending in the reservation form.

I could go on forever...

I understand your a little touchy on this subject but I have never been rude or an asshole on the boards or in my correspondence with any providers.

Yesterday was the first time I ever brought up the subject and you will note her name was not mentioned.  All my correspondence and phone conversations are conducted like a gentleman (unless somebody wants to talk dirty).  After two phone calls not returned that nite, I sent her a restrained but curt email asking why I could not get the courtesy of a phone call instead of wasting my time with the subject line "What Is Your Deal?".  

And why would I need to make amends with her?  She flaked and then flamed me, life is too short for me to put up with that behavior.

Actually I'm not that touchy on the subject... but the fact remains that for ever gent that offers courtesy there are many more that do not. Many individuals that use the boards feel they have a right to treat providers, (porn stars or not,) as cum sockets with no human feelings, or personal responsibilities. When something happens requiring a guy to cancel an appointment, it's perfectly acceptable behavior for him to DEMAND a refund and for the lady to loose potential income. When it happens in reverse where something happens in a ladies life it is NOT acceptable and everyone starts thinking she should be reported to some govenrment agency for fraud. I think it's sad that female rip offs can be outed - but when someone like Samantha is straight up ROBBED after services are rendered her posts are edited... "Protect the gent, scorn the whore" seems to be the policy staff is taking... As if the ladies of this board are completely expendable.

Just food for thought...

I am one that won't give a deposit, yet I don't think my time is more important than anyone else. I also have never missed an appointment, yet I have been stood up on several occasions with NO explanation or even an attempt to contact me.

Now if I were to give a deposit in those situations do you think the lady would have shown up?  I seriously doubt it, and I doubt that any refund would have been available since they never took the time to respond to my email or voice mail questioning why they didn't show up.

Sinnamon, I believe that you are a much more responsible woman than those that have been aforementioned.

The time is equal - this shouldn't even be debated anymore on this board. I too have never cancelled an appointment and have also been stood up 4 or 5 times. Only once did I get a call.

I too would not ever give a deposit. Ever.

My point is that we, hobbyists and providers, only briefly (in most cases) spend time together - we DO NOT know each other (sorry pluver - you're wrong). The men shouldn't trust the women with deposits just as the women shouldn't let their guard down and become complacent with men they've seen many times. Safety first and happy hobbying.

This subject comes up over and over again.  To guys who say they'll never give a deposit, that's there choice... it isn't right or wrong, it's just they're comfort level.  But that eliminiates a lot of wonderful providers that DO require a deposit, and it's your loss.

You can't lump everyone into the same category.  There are several indy pornstars who come to mind, Sinnamon, Kathy Willets, Sara Jay, Keisha, Candy Cotton, and others, that I'd have absolutely no problem sending a deposit to... they've proven time and time again that they are dependable, and more importantly, honest, regarding the way they conduct business...

There are also many other ladies that i wouldn't send a dollar to in advance...

To just make a blanket statement that one shoud NEVER send a deposit is in my opinion a little short sighted... just as a smart hobbyist does his homework and reads reviews to ascertain the level of performace to expect, so can one do his homework to see which pornstars are dependable and not... base your decision on the facts.

I'd be willing to wager that the ratio of hobbyist no-shows to pornstar no-shows is easily 10 to 1

Maybe the pornstars should start posting the names of the guys who stand them up.  Or at least, every time they get a no-show, just make an announcement on the boards that "Today 3 guys stiffed me" - That might make us a little more sympathetic to their side of the story.

Subject: JoeSchmo from Outer BumFuck Egypt Stood me up!

Message: That bastard JoeSchmo stood me up today! He booked a 3 hour appointment and demanded that he be the first of the day. As he mentioned that he wanted to tour "Greece," in our various email correspondences, I didn't eat anything after 9pm last night and got up bright and early to do an enema. I had a really light breakfast, and called him around 7am to confirm our 9am appointmeent. He didn't answer my call. I left a rather cheery message - especially as it was 7am. Around 7:30 I called again... By 8am I had this quesy feeling in my stomach. I'd had this feeling before... I knew he wasn't going to show up. I went back to finishing my makeup to look like the porn queen I'm not during my "normal" life; conccealer, foundation, powder, then 10 minutes trying to get my false lashes to look as normal as possible. Next, 2 different eyeshadows, eye liner, 4 coats of mascara... rouge, lip liner, lipstick, Mac Lip glass - followed by a stain to keep my lipstick on - a special request because he wanted my lipstick to stay on no matter how wet and messy things got. Finally I slid into my purple bustier, (another of his special requests,) and matching shoes - things I wouldn't have traveled with otherwise. Finally I glance at the clock in the living room of my suite - it was 9:10am. He was late. I check my cell phone, he hadn't left a message. I try calling him again. This time his cell phone is off. I walk over to my computer to check my email - no message. Here I stood all dolled up and raring to go - and no one to share it with! I want everyone to know that this jerkoff really blew it and NO girl should ever book an appointment with him without taking a deposit first!!!

put up with this same crap! Getting ready for hours to have a no show - or a guy call 10 minutes before to cancel. Oh - you did'nt know you had to cancel 2 hours ago! "F'd" up, I say. I have a good "friend", thats right, a friend who quit because of all of the BS involved. Yeah she's a friend, she lives up the street from me now, we see each other often, as friends. But again, Sinnamons right!

Sinn, we're having fun with this, but it might be a good idea.  The moderator won't let you "out" anyone, but if every time a girl got stiffed she posted a message on the board with a description of what she had to do to get ready, and at the end of the particular city tour list the dollar amount of money she lost in no-shows, it may shed some insight as to what goes on on the other side of the fence.

Plus, I've mentioned this before, but I think it bears mentioning again, some no-shows are intentional.   A lot of guys try to scam the ladies by intentionally calling 10 or 15 minutes before their scheduled time to let the girl know that "I couldn't get to an ATM" or "my funds didn't transfer in time", etc... "so I only have $xxx on me.  Will you see me for that amount"?  The guy figures the girl's showered, dressed and ready, can't fill the hour at such short notice, so she'll bite the bullet and take whatever she can get rather than get nothing...

Add that to the list of just plain no-shows

Yes, I am actually having fun with this Eddie, can you tell??? I think it's sad that guys can out a girl without staff intervening first to see what the girl's side of the story is - but if a girl outs someone, like in Samantha's case above where she's been ripped off after PROVIDING SERVICES, she gets edited... What's up with that???

But you're right, I think guys will see a different view. But you know what? I don't think that most guys will even care... after all it's just some "whore" that really doesn't deserve to get paid that kind of money anyway... I mean hell, 600 - 1k for a porn star?! What kind of shit is that?!! There are plenty of local girls that will boink your brains out for 200 -300 bucks!

Just my two cents to the famous review that rebecca lord is a rip off:
First of all, if the guy have had sent money, it would be a money order. He surely would have had the possibility to cancel it, right!?
You think I am telling you lies about the money order, I am full of shit and ask cash (just to keep the spirit of the posts, and it will avoid someone to come and say it so we don't loose our time! :)?
Well, I am sure there is more than one guy here that have emailed me to ask me my rates and conditions. So come forward and confirm that I always ask advance fees by money order and through Fedex.
Second thing: who would be dumb enough to sit on another $2000 after receiving a lousy 500 bucks to spend one hour with a client?
As  far as I know, I don't have a reputation of being a drug addict (or I missed that post!!!) or an alcoholic (missed this one too!), and certainly not the one of being flaky! Especially for a grand total of $2500!! WOULD YOU???

Which brings me to another post that said I was charging $250/hour, a while ago, or some fantastic story that I use to charge $500 or something like that 8 years ago!!! I already answer that post so I am not doing it again, but the fact and the matter is that I still receive email asking me for a $250/hour date (I had a funny one that said "for this rate I'll keep you all night"!!! :)

One last thing I thought about reading this post: maybe the guy booked me through Exotica-2000. They took his money, end of the story. I have worked with them very little as they are not reliable. One time good, one time awful!
So if this guy got ripped off by Exotica-2000, my advice is call your credit card company and put a stop payment. I will back you up 100% if they need my testimony.
A word of advice though: book me directly. It's 40% cheaper, and I always show up if I said so!!!
