Don't rule out trimix injections.

I'm a 61 yo & had a prostatectomy 6 wks. ago because of prostate cancer.  So far things are looking good for me.  The pathology points to the removal of all  abnormal tissue & my first psa test is less than 0.01.
My big problem is I can't get hard no matter what.  I know it is probably early in my recovery to expect much but this is a real problem!  Watching my favorite porn scenes that always worked right now won't do it.  Perusing the adds & pictures here on TER and thinking about who to see next also doesn't work anymore either. My penis seems smaller than before also.  You guys who have been through this, what techniques or drugs did you use to get the blood flowing again?  Are there any of you ladies who specialize in penile rehab? lol.  I'm pretty self conscious about this issue and am now reluctant to set up any dates.  I hope this is not repetitive for this board.  Any answers are appreciated.  Thanks!

Hey, I went through this about 2.5 years ago and I can confirm that things will definitely get better.  But it will take some time.  There is a lot of healing that needs to happen and it is very slow.  At first pills didn't work so I used injection therapy which may sound wierd but isn't.  It takes some time to get the dosage right but it works.  Now, 2.5 years out I use Viagra but need a big dose.  I also use a cock ring, the adjustable ones work best.  I don't stay hard in a condom but I didn't do that before the surgery.  BTW, the injections got me so hard I could screw like a teenager with a cover on.  I had a great session a few weeks ago, the lady kept me on edge for an hour with hands and mouth and it was great, simply great.  But no cum, dry orgasms.

Hang in there Grara, it will definitely get better!

I absolutely agree with this post.  I had my prostate removed about 15 years ago.  Tried Viagra but didn't like the side effects (for me anyway), I tried the MUSE thing and that helped, but the best was the injection thing, am still using it.  Boston Medical Group is where I get my prescription, it comes with insulin needles and a small plastic device that hides the needle.  Push a button (totally painless) and then slowly push in the plunger , bingo, in a few minutes it's hard as a rock and can last for a couple hours....teenager again.  I can get about 80% without it, good for oral, but as soon as I pop it's gone.  Not so with the injection.  Best of luck with the recovery.

Have you tried getting an orgasm by using a vibrator on you limp penis? An erection isn't an absolute requirement for an orgasm. If yes, you should be able to get a provider who may come to your rescue.  Good luck and don't give up.

Yes, I am pursuing this with the Drs.  MD Anderson, where I had the surgery, has a penile rehab clinic and I have my first appointment there on Wed..  Just wanted to get some take from you here on the board.  I appreciate your responses.  I think they're going to give me prescriptions for a pump, maybe pills and they may even give me the shot to see what happens.  I wish it could be a naked nurse attending to me...that couldn't hurt to help get things going!  You'll think I'm crazy but I tried using a vacuum cleaner to suck my cock!  I have one that you can adjust the suction on so I turned it down so I didn't end up in the emergency room.  I did this while looking at an Over 40 magazine and it did kind of work.  Sort of.   I went completely limp as soon as I removed it though.  I know a ring can help with this.  I'm horny as hell & need to get my dick into a pussy!

Don't rule out trimix injections.

Another possibility if you can achieve an erection with the methods suggested is a female condom. I'll let the board know after I try it tonight with an ATF. :)

Check the site below. Hundreds of guys with your issues, many due to prostate cancer surgery. Lots of great info at that site.

I see you have good advice from the others below.  I also have prostate cancer but decided against doing anything. Had a PSA of 12 I think and a gleason of 7.  Thought about all my options and it's just myself so when it's my time it's my time.

Well my PSA has dropped to less then  for several months now and the doctors have no reason why  but I just turned 69 last month so I'm guessing I found out about 4 yrs ago.

Anyways, hang in there knowing you should more years to be able to play once you get back into action. Stay close to your Dr. and any support group you have not to mention here.

Good Luck,
Bordello69

Thanks for all the good advise, information & support.  Headed to Houston today and hopefully will return with a pump & prescriptions for pills & Trimix.  Gotta get this hang low rising up!

get your doc to prescribe Tri-mix for you.  Edex is off the shelf, but leaves you with an ache.  Tri-mix has to be custom formulated, but goes a long way.  For me it was $125 for two vials, last a long time.  You could hang two wet towels off the erection it will give you, but make sure you get very good instruction on how to inject.  It's surprisingly easy to miss the corpus when you're anxious and there's a hot lady in the next room waiting for you to return and do her properly.  I've missed twice on dates and it's no fun.  You should not re-inject, so that puts a damper on playtime.

For what it's worth, my regular provider doesn't like the injections, says they make me too hard.  She's good enough that she can coax a very workable erection without the injection.  She likes that a lot better (some ego involved there, I think).  I have to admit that there is a slightly different feel to the injected erection, kind of harder on the outside if that makes any sense.

At any rate, once you are ready post-surgically, for a confidence boost have your doc get you some Tri-mix.  It is like screwing with a teenager's dick again, except when you come, it stays hard.  How long depends on your dosage.  Keep the dosage low enough that you lose the erection within about 3 or 4 hours.

Head Dr's are always wanted!

I have plenty of clients who can no longer get it up.  Have you tried a penis pump?  If, so what about exploring other options... Kinky fun perhaps?

my pussy eating skills have increased exponentially to the decrease in dick activity..if you cant dick it..lick it..

Women have used these exercises for years but it is not as well known to men. It will strengthen your pelvic area and force blood to engorge the area. By using this exercise you'll regain feeling and control. In many of the friends I have suggested using this method they have received a number of benefits after surgery or radiation. It takes time to see the positive effects but my friends have been very happy.

I spent several hours on Wed. at the MD Anderson Boner Clinic aka The Genitourinary Cancer Center Penile Rehabilitation Clinic.  What a blast!  My wife went with me and after the physical examination we went through a lot of Q & A... are you leaking urine?... not much anymore.  Have you had an orgasm?...no.  Have you had an erection?...definitely no.  So then they told us they were going to give me a shot of Trimix to see what happened.  They dimmed the lights in the exam room and told us we would have complete privacy and that my wife should do what she could to help me out.  Gave me the shot & that sucker burned a lot!  So I ask my wife to drop her pants so I can finger her pussy and she starts sucking on my cock. Within 5 minutes I've got a hard on!  It's a little wimpy but one that I think I could penetrate with!  I'm amazed given that my dick has been completely dead since the prostatectomy, the setting is very weird and my wife is horrible at sucking cock!  The docs knocked at the door in about 15 min., glanced at my cock and said, "not bad".  I'm really happy.  I now know that I can get an erection again!  The docs at MD Anderson take an aggressive 3 prong approach to ED, so I came home with a vacuum pump (use every day),  a prescription for pills (twice a week) and a prescription for Trimix that I'm supposed to use 1 or 2 times a week.  Just can't use the pills and the injections at the same time.  I also enrolled in a study they are doing to follow long term results.  I've got lots of boners in my future and I'm happy for that!  Thanks to you all for your info and words of encouragement!

I was hoping "MD" stood for "Maryland" before I did a search and discovered that the clinic is in Texas.  I'm a year younger and may be headed down the same path.  I have the up-the-butt biopsy scheduled for next week.  The doc has been monitoring my PSA for about a year & a half (tested every three months).  The first reading was abnormal and the one I just had in May was abnormal (free particle count).  UGH -- getting old is a bummer.

Glad to hear you're on the road to recovery.

Max,
In Maryland I would consider Johns Hopkins for treatment if you end up having prostate cancer.  I did a lot of research and like MD Anderson in Houston, Johns Hopkins is at the head of the pack for this kind of thing.  I don't live in Texas but am happy to take a 2 hour plane ride to get what MD Anderson has to offer. That penis rehab clinic they have is pretty rare and I'll bet Johns Hopkins has something very similar.  I hope it doesn't end up being cancer.  Good luck!

...write you a prescription for a young, all-star cocksucking provider and tell your wife and insurance co. that it was medically necessary.

GREAT idea.  If you find a doc who will write that Rx and an insurance co that will pay, please post it here for the benefit of all.

I had complete removal of my prostrate in 1996.  The first few months, getting hard is a problem...........but doctor told me that with massage, I could as he did not do too much damage to the nerves during the procedure.   Sure enough after about 3 months, I could get hard with massage..........AND experience an orgasm although not quite as intense as before the surgery.  It has been 16 years, I can get it up with massage, and have an orgasm without any discharge.  Girls call me a "safe fuck"...LOL.
Advice..........give it time to heal.  depending on your circulatory system, Viagra or Cialis works well.  Tried them both.  I prefer the Muse system in which you insert a plastic applicator in the hole of your penis and push a button on top of it which inserts a medication into the urinary canal about 1 1/2 inches from the tip.  A bit of massage after that and voila........erection!  There are many ways to continue having and enjoyable sex life.  Talk with your doctor...be honest with him.....and remember it beats the alternative.
