I know this subject comes up often, people asking about security at this hotel or this resort. I have never stayed at hotel in vegas that does have security at the elevators so I was wondering how does it all work? Is it as simple as just flashing your room key and access is granted or do they also require ID to match the names to the rooms registration. I was thinking on my upcoming trip  to splurge a little on myself and stay at a resort that I know has security at the elevators. any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

...most of the other places I've stayed require key card access to the elevators, but at this location, I hand my key card to the security guy, he runs it through a scanner, hands the card back to me and I'm good to go. I've not been asked to show ID and I've never been questioned about who is that beautiful woman that's accompanying me. I don't know what information is displayed on the scanner screen that only the guard can see but I assume it shows my name, room # and and reservation dates. If I recall, at times I've been welcomed by name by the security guard so, in this case, it probably wouldn't work to give a key card to my date in order for her to pass thru security unaccompanied by me.
