When entering to see a provider, the lights are dim but you want to see if she has any sores or pimples, what is the edict on this and vise versa, except for a quick glance at my DingDong there is no other inspection and what does a provider do if she see's something she doesn't like??????

They all say there clean and just checked, and I'm sure most are, the ones I see anyway..but who really knows

The only "easy steps" that will work are physical barriers like condoms and dental dams, or abstinence.
Even people who are completely asymptomatic can transmit disease. You mentioned sores and a life sentence, so I am guessing that you are referring to Herpes.
I got this straight from a MD. People with Herpes, who have strong immune systems that prevent sores, still shed the virus (are contagious) about 70 days a year, unless they are on medication for it.
So, if your only protection is looking for visual sores, you may as well go ahead and do it in the dark, because you aren't being safe in the light.
How can one refrain from DATY?
In the heat of the moment the little head does the thinking and he says go for it. It would take great will power to not engage in DATY with a provider.

They are just thin square slips of latex or rubber.
