Do they serve any purpose? Aside from allowing providers to charge more, I guess? I routinely read all a lady's reviews when considering seeing her. I don't keep numbers in my head well, though I do notice them. Experiences, or my interpretation of them, do stick in my head, not counting the "just the facts" ones. I can't make sense of the relative rankings for ladies whose reviews I'm familiar with.
Ratings don't tell the story, as I've come to realize. Reviewers don't use the numbers consistently. This goes beyond that. I've noticed top ladies tend to have a similar look, which I'd describe as hardbodied model-type, usually with big tits. Which may be some people's preference, but I can't believe jives with the average man's erotic ideal. Maybe it's what men expect highly rated women to look like; I don't know.
Also, and this is a biggie, seems to me such lists beg for cheating, manipulation, whatever you want to call it.

Not all top rated ladies(top 20 in a market) but most I have seen.

The answer to both the monthly award and the Top 100 is pretty much the same to me. Something I pay little attention to. I suspect some like that -- providers probably like getting the recognition and clients in some case like sampling from the "winners". Perhaps you might think of it in the context of the Porn Star providers -- some guys seem to really get off on the idea of fucking the woman they've see on a video

I get that, but why is TER helping with their marketing like that? It's one thing to give them the opportunity to promote themselves, it's another to promote along with them. How does that help clients, to whom TER is supposed to be catering?
My guess is they think the ladies will compete, and that will lead to more reviews, and since reviews are TER's bread and butter that's fine by them. But how does that help clients? And is it good for the hobby as a whole?
More then one client has paid for VIP to have access to the list.
I do not necessarily look at the top but gives me 100 local ladies to chose from all of which have reviews.
To me it sure beats seeing an add and then checking number and email to see if she has reviews/
This does miss the providers who have less then 20 reviews but is a hell of a start
People pay for access to that list, or for access to reviews? I realize it's a sort of shortcut, but is that really the way it goes? People Clinton click on the list, then pick from there? Because that's not the way I did it.
Also, is that a good thing? Is it a good way for people to manoeuvre through the hobby?

I suppose it just depends on how you define "purpose", maybe "value" is a better word in this context. To be in the top 100, the provider needs at least 20 reviews. That's a pretty decent sample size, enough to where the reader should get a decent sense as to what the provider has to offer and, perhaps more importantly, if those things match up with what the reader is looking for in a provider. Should the top 100 be the sole basis for a decision on whether to visit a provider? No, of course not. But the list is certainly a decent place to begin the search.
As to me specifically, I've seen ladies that are in the 1 - 10 category in their area, I've seen ladies that were in the 90 - 100 category in their area and I've seen ladies that didn't have enough reviews to make the list. Again, it's just a tool to put to use, it isn't the end all.
The providers who are from Las Vegas, where I reside, rarely if ever interact on our local board. Most, I've never heard of. Hmmm...I guess they're too busy escorting, to communicate with TER's hobbyists via the discussion boards.
Maybe if you are talking about the Top 20 or Top 20, then that would be true, but not so for the Top 20. I spend a lot of time on the LV board and I'd say most of the ladies that regularly post are indeed in the LV Top 100.

Off the top of my head I could rattle 15 names of top 100 girls who post but I choose not to list them here. Naming names can serve as promoting someone, or putting them down. We should not be doing either on the newbie board. This board is for questions and advice to help newbie providers and newbie hobbyists. It's not for arguing, train wrecks, or promotions or put downs of providers or clients.
Now if you want to take this to the General Board or the LV board, we can argue until the cows come home!

but if you meant "catty," you're correct. All she's proven is she knows less about TER than our host and fails to understand this is a friendly board in order to make newbies comfortable.

But discussions of technicalities like this really do nothing for new members, nor do they advance the tone of this board. May I humbly ask you to bear that in mind in the future? While you may still insist you're right (and I'm not prone to debate it any more) this is not the place for it, especially when you said you'd ended the discussion above.
I've had two clients tell me they found me by looking on the top 100 in Atlanta. One of them told me whenever he travels, he goes to that city's Top 100, starts at #100 (because of his budget) and works his way down to the first one with an above 9 in performance. He said it never failed him, and he's had a good time every time with all the bells and whistles and without having to go over his budget.
I assume the purpose is for the gentleman who want to get a great lady but don't have time to research. My client's method seems super fast without a lot of research or clicking around involved. I know a lot of the ladies on the Top 100 in my city, and if you book with one of them, you're pretty much guaranteed a good time.
The "top lists" have not completely destroyed the credibility of the review system here, but they have caused serious damage to it.
Being in the top 100 means absolutely nothing to me, nor should it to any discerning whore monger.
