Can a provider update a white list referral so that the date stamp is more current? I was just with one provider who's retiring in a couple of months, and who had put her name on my white list.

She should be delisted here and in that case all the whitelists she gave will disappear.

... I know of cases where providers "retired" and did not delist, so white lists remained.  I'm not sure why they do this, since if they un-retire their old profiles can be resurrected, but it happens.

Oh, certainly, that happens. That's why I said "should".

One reason problem reports are important. If you know someone retired, make the site aware of that.

...like with any other problem report, you have to prove it to TER's satisfaction.  You can't just make a problem report and say: "Hey, Gertrude retired. Please de-list her."

Ad malls like to keep providers ads up even after they're long gone to make it look like the ad mall has a lot of ads and is a popular advertising vehicle.  And even if a provider's profile has no ad links, TER won't remove the profile and de-list the provider unless she requests it.  Many providers remove their ads but don't bother requesting that their profiles be removed, perhaps in case they decide to come back or maybe because they can't be contacted anyway since the phone number and email won't be good anymore.

TER's main value is derived from having the largest database of provider reviews in the world. Removing reviews and making the database smaller is hardly in the interest of TER>

Retirement (no longer taking appointments) does not mean automatic delisting, nor should it.

I like having access to the old reviews for Providers who are no longer active. There's some great reading and great memories in there!

And what about Providers who remain active but not on TER or go UTR (under the radar). Maybe their old URLs, phone and email have changed but maybe they also want their current UTR clients to be able to read about her good old days
