I am guessing this could be hard to give a direct answer but how long does it normally take for a typical agency to get back to you after giving info. for screening? Also, when they ask for place of work but not phone # or a direct extension, do they call your work place still? Just wondering.

Thanks

The time for an agency to get back to you is all over the map.  Most I've dealt with can screen you in a day or less, especially if they offer verification through popular screening services like P411, RS2K, Date-Check, TER whitelist, etc.  But some can take a couple of days or even a few days, depending on how strict their screening process is and if you are new to the game.  If they are actually contacting your prior references, that alone can easily take at least a day or two.

If they ask for place of work but not phone number or direct extension, they're PROBABLY not going to call your workplace.  They can verify that using other methods.  It's pretty common courtesy for a screener to let you know they'll call your workplace as a heads up.  That way, if there's anything special they need to know about how your workplace handles calls or what they might need to say or not say to keep discrete, you can get that on the table.  That being said, agencies are all over the place in how they do things, so it depends on the agency and there are no guarantees.

Want to save time with screening in the future and minimize the amount of personal info you have running around out there?  Go with P411, RS2K, DC, etc.  The best choice for you may depend on geography (example: RS2K is popular in the Midwest).

Good luck!
