Hi Sasha,
I'm actually pretty diligent on research. Primarily because I'd rather not get service than risk running into LE. Unfortunately, since I live in a smaller part of the country (though not utterly tiny) it's pretty rare any of the providers are reviewed. Any actual reviews of providers that post in my area always link back to TER so if someone is not listed on TER I'm not going to find a review of them anywhere. So, at best, I can see if they're at least consistent posters on BP so I can at least (hopefully) assume they aren't LE.

I appreciate the last paragraph of advice and will not pay any money in advance again. If anyone has additional tips for research I will happily listen.

An escort said she needed to verify me through her camsite. I would have to pay $25 to be verified though. She said the money I paid would be taken off the meeting. So, I paid, and she never got online. My mistake, I know, I won't do that again. My question is, how can I make others aware of this provider so they don't get swindled too? Since we never met I can not do a review according to TER guidelines. Any thoughts on how I can warn others?

but the harsh reality is that you are likely to get flamed and ridiculed on some of the "less nice" boards for your newbie mistake. Fortunately it only cost you twenty five bucks, but this is a scam that virtually all veterans know not to fall for.

I would suggest that in the future any requests you get from women asking for even a penny before meeting, run the idea by us here first and we can most likely help you from getting burned in the future. For the record 99.999999999999% of the time a hooker asks for money to be "verified" it's a scam. Ok, probably even more often than that.

Don't feel too bad though, we were all newbies once, of course back when fish and I were newbies there were still rotary dial phones and rabbit ears on your TV. lol

Thanks for the reply. Along those lines I had something similar happen with a different escort. For her services she asked to be paid with a prepaid debit card. I thought this seemed odd and said "So  you want me to show up and hand you the card?" She said yes. So, I went out to the store and grabbed one. However, upon going to the hotel she said that she wanted me to send pics of the card numbers so she could verify the card was real. She said it was to prove I wasn't a cop because technically I wasn't giving her cash.

This falls into the category of fool me once... I told her that she could just take the numbers, get the money, and not have to see me. She claimed it was legit, and I actually told her about getting scammed by the cam girl. So, I just went home that night and kept the card.

Was I correct that this is a common scam too?

Yup. That's a scam too. Only time I want the numbers on a prepaid card before meeting is for you to pay for my flight to see you. And that's after I've seen you before. Other than that. Run the other way.

The escort that was trying to get the debit card numbers got upset when I told her I wouldn't do it because of the cam scam. She said something like "It's crazy bitches like her that give the rest of us a bad name" Go figure.

Glad you didn't fall for the gift card scam. As to the cams ite scam, as GaG said, just write it off as a loss. At least it was only 25 bucks. You are in an area without a TER regional board so there is nothing you can really do to warn others. Most experienced TER guys that would be on the boards would already no not to fall for these scams anyway. Plus these scam
Artists just keep changing their names and photos so the only warning you can give is to not fall for these types of scams. Warning about a particular escort ad probably does not do much good. I am assuming you found her as in BP. You can post a warning in BP. I have seen that done, but not sure it is worth the trouble.

Best advice is to read the self help center on TER, read back on this newbie board a bunch of pages, and come back here and ask questions if you have any. Use logic and common sense (you did that with the gift card girl). Use your big head and not the little one. :) Good luck.

watch for unauthorized charges or better yet, get the number changed NOW!

No, I used a prepaid card that only had $25 dollars on it. I may not have been utterly wise in this situation but I was cautious.

by reviewers with a good review history?

In reality, it doesn't matter where you find providers, just do your homework and check for reviews, do a google search for phone and run the photos through tineye.

Found her on backpage (big shock, I know). I am pretty good about due diligence. I always check here, google number, and do a picture search. Unfortunately, since I am in a smaller area it's pretty uncommon that a provider is reviewed on this site. For this escort I saw a good number of postings on backpage, and nothing negative that led me to believe she was police/scam artist.

Where could I do this? Trust me, I'm more than willing to put out the warning. Just need to know where.

Write review and tell all website boards. Their blacklist on this  TER website.

He can't write a review of someone he hasn't seen, and TER does not have a blacklist site.

This is a follow up to some of your follow up replies in the thread.
The only place you can really report her is on BP as I mentioned earlier. You are in an area not served by TER, plus she is not a TER reviewed lady anyway, so makes no sense posting about her on a TER regional board. If you have a local non TER review board (which we can't mention names here) then you can post there. Otherwise, if you are intent on warning others, take an ad out on BP in the same BP forum she is using and telL people about the scam there. Link to her ad on your ad. I have seen that done on BP a lot. I personally still don't see that as necessary, because odds are she (or he--these are not actual providers that run these scams, just scammers) will change her name and photos and keep posting ads.

While you were taken in the scam for 25 bucks, you were smart to use a $25?guft card and not your CC. As harbor view said, using your cc could have had you out a lot more than 25. They could have had recurring small charges or a lump sum large charge on your cc if you had given them that.

Again, my feeling is just move on and learn from this. Do your due diligence in the future.

I am sorry that happened to you,

Doing your homework cannot be stressed enough. Whenever meeting a provider use every tool and resource available to you to verify that she is genuine. Before you start, the very first thing that you should do it look at her website. If she does not have one, find an online profile that you can use to base judgment about her reputation. A provider's website is very informational, and a legitimate provider will almost always have a website. If the provider's website is not clear, is missing information, or makes you second-guess yourself, move on.

I do not know what caliber of providers you were looking to see, but it is common practice for reputable providers to request booking or screening via an online form on their website or email. SCREENING IS FREE. As soon as she mentioned a cam site, it should have been a red flag. There are providers who are versatile when it comes to their platforms, but if she has a cam site, believe that she is making money comfortably and does not need to see you to get paid.
