better yet, need to ask her to be a reference first, not just tell her that you are using her...she may not want to be contacted

Searched for a new provider and provided my references.

This new-to-me popular provider's booker was kind enough to let me know that after several days, none of my references responded to the booker's reference check requests.

Hobbyists, do you give your references a heads up about incoming reference checks?

Providers, is it professional courtesy to respond promptly to reference checks?

you should let her know that you are doing so.  If you don't, she may not remember you, and besides, it's just common courtesy.  I would never use a provider as a reference without telling her that she might be contacted by provider XXX in reference to me.

When I see a new provider, she checks my references, and the previous provider gives her the OK. New provider gets my money.
The least she could do is to pay it forward.

A provider can't expect a client to have only one regular provider.

I always respond back same day to the Provider checking a reference. It is helpful if the client sends a "heads up" to me ahead of time, along with he date that they saw me. Either way, I always give the Provider the green light. And yes there is plenty of clients and isn't sharing the love part of what us providers are about? I would hope so:-).

1. No provider is obligated to be a reference for anyone. Obviously it's the nice thing to do, and I personally always respond to reference checks before anything else, but keep in mind that it is a courtesy. And there are plenty of reasons why a lady won't give references, not necessarily just because she's selfish.

2. It's possible that your references did in fact respond, but their responses weren't positive and the booker is trying to help them avoid drama. One major no-no amongst the girls is telling a client what their references said about them.

I know none of that is what you want to hear, but it's important to keep in mind how the reference system works
