A full frontal torso shot where you are flexing or stretching is best.....

Be sure it is well lit, and that the background is not distracting

I'm not sure the photos I'm taking of myself are really working for me. I'm working with what I got camera wise, and having difficulty finding photographers OK with doing more boudoir/implied nude shoots (huzzah living in a red state, I even had a photographer response with a bible verse).

Obviously a full body shot is important.  But as clients, when looking at an ad or a providers site, are there poses/pictures you look for in particular?

suggest you look at the websites of girls in your area and see who is taking their pics.  Guys want to see some pro shots and some candid shots.  If you have a close friend that knows what you do, maybe you could get he/she to take some shots of you.  They don't have to be nudes, but very suggestive is always nice, as is sexy lingerie.

Thanks! Looking around at local pictures is a really good idea. My only fear is crossing the line between drawing inspiration and coping someone. Although I guess there are only so many poses a body can do.. :D

Yours is a specific part of the more general and frequently asked question (FAQ) about photos, photo shoots, etc.  From the Search tab on the newbie board:

search for [photo shoot] [exact phrase]
day range 400 to 0 days

or
search for [professional photo] [exact phrase]
and so on.

One item that also come up is watermarking your pictures to protect them against being stolen and used by others on fake ads.  That could damage your reputation even before you have a reputation!

Keep in mind that many of the "boudoir" or "glamour" photogs travel to different cities where they rent studio time and such and then make hourly appointments that  they hope will lead to an overall profit for their trip ... JUST LIKE TOURING PROVIDERS!

If you find a style of pics that you like, you can ask the Provider about her experience with the photog, just like "back channeling" on TER reviews.

What is your location (city or state or closest big TER city)

I think Bella has a bunch of family over this week, and isn't around her computer so much. I don't think she'll mind if I step in though.

Bella is about 4 hours from even a moderately sized city in Texas, so all of her work will be done touring, and that is what makes getting pro pics shot difficult as well. She is heading up to Chicago soon though to visit me and another friend, and we are trying to get her hooked up with some decent professional photos while she is around.

Knowing that her "home base" is kind of remote is good to know; saves on making bad suggestions. That you and some other friends are going to help her out when she hits Chicago is also good to know.

BTW, your pics are very nice. I like the "on your mark, GET SET!" pic which I assume is followed by a GO and then off to the races! (The next thing somebody will tell me is that it's actually some kind of yoga stance. I prefer GET SET!

I'll let your imagination run with "off to the races" idea ;-)

The closest city to me is El Paso, so my closest TER city is Dallas or Austin? It all really depends on how fast I feel like driving as to which is closest.

I've managed to find a local photog who does do boudoir shoots, and have a session next week! This gives me time to work on my poses and pick outfits.

Sounds good! I have ZERO experience at this, myself, but I've read comments from others.

I assume you are paying by the hour (hmmm, "time and companionship only. Anything picture taking activity that happens between a photographer and subject is strictly consensual.")  You will get a certain number of "snaps", a certain number of outfit changes (takes time off the clock!), a certain number of make or hair changes (tick, tick, tick, tick ...).  Consider bringing along a friend to help you with outfits, hair, makeup, stress, and, most importantly in MY opinion, to make sure that your panties are nice and smooth and not wrinkled and bunched up!

Will you have a signed contract? A typical shoot might be 50-60 snaps and you'll be allowed to keep 10 or so. How much extra for each additional keeper? Who owns the pics? What usage rights does the photog have (can he put them on his website as sample shots or sell them to Penthouse?)? Will the photog put HIS watermark on the pics? Will he do some photoshopping for you? Do you have tons of tattoos to P-shop out? That might cost extra. Etc., etc., etc. Ask for advice here!

I hope I'm not making it sound scary. It's not. Just trying to raise Qs that you can get answered ahead of time to all goes well and with no surprises

Awe, that's actually a good practice with me. I tend to be more focused on the big picture and miss all the fiddle detail parts. Luckily, this won't be my first rodeo, but it will be the first time I'm paying for the pictures (vs being paid). It's almost easier when some photog contacts you all, "hey, every wanna be a mermaid? or fawn or... part of x, y, z, project" xp

I will have a contact with this photog, I paid for a 3 hour session, I will have my hair and makeup done for me (how fancy!). I will get to keep X number of pictures which shall be mine, to which I shall add my own watermark (go go pshop skills). They want to do light touch up, but I have the know-how to do my own. I'm trying to talk them into just giving me some of the raw files so I can edit and post ASAP, but that might be a point of contention (oh noes, it might mess with their artistic flow). They did sound really nice on the phone, so I fully expect to have nice pictures and both my kidneys by the end of the shoot.  :D

If I was in TX, I'd volunteer to tag along to make sure that your panties are nice and smooth and not wrinkled and bunched up.  And to count your kidneys

I actually could have used a spotter, haha. There were several pictures that were nice, but my nose ring was crooked!

Body shape is important to me - I don't have a preferred body type, it just has to strike me.  So all of the oddball long-angle, isolated body part shots I see, I find annoying.  I'm not saying "Full body mug shot," but give me an idea of what you look like - of what I'd see if I saw you walking down the street, sitting on a chair, leaning on the bar, standing with your hands on your hips and a saucy grin on your (blurred) face.  I like a provocative girl-next-door, but I'll take a sultry vamp as long as I can see all of her.

Now, granted, you'd look like you were walking down the street in a bra and lace thong, so stay off the actual street - but what I mean is, let me see what the woman looks like, not some strangely-angled oblique pose that makes you look like you're being explored by the camera on the lunar lander.

If only I could think of a good orbital body/lunar landing joke. "I am a celestial body?" ehh. It'll come to me.

That makes a lot of sense. I can see (and feel) the temptation for more artsy shots. but really, it's more important that people actually see what they'd see if y'all were in the same room.
