P411 question

Hi everyone,

I'm not a "newbie" per se, though I am thinking of expanding my circle, and still researching ways to put myself out there.   P411 seems to be the gold standard for meeting likeminded folks, but I was told I would need to email a pic of my license held up to my face.  I know the site is based in Canada,  but this makes me a little nervous.  Any thoughts?  Experiences?

Thanks so much!
Xo Ashley

....but I blacked out all the unnecessary info (DL number, address, full name).

No problems, so far.

If anybody knows of such, i'd love to explore this option as well.
Seems like a good, less intrusive way to utilize p411

  Thanks!

I'm on the other side of that as a hobbyist.

It certainly is concerning to hand over any personally identifying information!  They even required me to disclose where I worked and we arranged a call to my work number.  Supposedly, once they do all their verification, they destroy and do not keep anything.  From then on, you have an account and are considered vetted, with none of your personal information ever available again.  Even if someone hacked or otherwise gained access to their system or records, your personal information will not be there.  Only your profile and login information.  Having said all that, there is always a risk that something could go wrong in that process, and therein lies the concern.

But as a provider, think of what that process means to you, that anyone contacting you from P411 has had perhaps even more stringent vetting than you might have done yourself.  Also, once a hobbyist sees a provider, he can click "ask for an ok" and the provider can then click "ok".  As a provider, you can see in the hobbyist's profile how many ok's he has before deciding to see him.  I'm not sure what tools exist there on the provider side, but presumably you could contact other providers this hobbyist has gotten ok's from and ask them about him.  So that should be reassuring.  So I think it's a pretty solid platform.

Should LE gain access to someone's account, that could be a problem.  I think I had read that had happen once or twice.

So just my thoughts and you have to weigh it all out.  There certainly are a lot of people on there.  From my side, I still do my homework, as would you, but at least you're starting from a good point
