Is it just me or has marketing today become latent with double entendre . . .
Example One: Reading an airline magazine that was describing a destination that was hot, fun and offered all-inclusive food, beverage and WATERSPORTS;
Example Two: An ad for a marketing group offering to guarantee "Our ads will lead to business with HAPPY ENDINGS."
Example Three: Showing up at a local hotel that was hosting the "Florida Morticians Assoc." and seeing a banner in the lobby greeting as such. The jokes and comments about that one... "people were dying to see me", "business there was dead", "the people were kind of stiff", "they just laid there", etc.
As the years pass (it has been well over 12; my first review was 10 years ago), I find double meanings in everything. It is blatant and obvious in marketing and advertising. But, sometimes just "lay" people will say things which I have to bite my tongue as to not laugh at the double meaning.
I would love to hear some examples that you have seen. Do any of you feel this way sometimes? Or I am the only one with their mind in the gutter.
Dirty mind? Clean it up....
