I don't really see the reason for the extra step

either go to the ATM and get $20's or go to the bank and get $100's, why go through the hassle of doing both?

I always wonder... I go to the ATM.. I get my donation.. of course, it's all in $20 bills.. Then I go into the bank and have them change the $20's to $100's. It's a pain.. Is that necessary..?
Money is money and a $20 bill is pretty easy to use.. But may take awhile to count if a girl is so inclined..

I do the extra step.. (Going to the ATM).. just because it's faster... If I don't then I have to wait to get to a teller... ask for a bank check.. get the blank one.. fill it out.. get back in line.. and get the cash.. I go to the ATM get the cash and then go to the teller.. faster..  I don't write a check out of my check book for obvious reasons..

Even following your rather convoluted logic here, why not just use the ATM at the tellers window, and then get the cash directly in 100's.

I have never understood some of the cloak and dagger stuff you guys go through simply to get a few hundred bucks in cash.

You are aware that there is an ATM type machine at each tellers window I hope. All you have to do is explain to the teller you need cash, but you prefer big bills, problem solved.

I think that the point is, the lady can count a few C-notes faster than she can riffle through a deck of Jacksons, to make sure she didn't get shorted.  However, I find myself wondering if the lady might not prefer to deposit/spend twenties rather than $100s.

Would being the hottie who always wanted change for a $100 at the local Superamerica raise any eyebrows or suspicions?

How can going to the ATM, and then going to the teller, be faster than just going to the teller?

Because the teller wants me to fill out a blank check.. she give the blank to me.. I walk away.. I fill it out...I get back in line.. there is no ATM at each teller window...
Disregarding your odd concern about my logic... I found out that girls could care less if it's a 20 or a 100 dollar bill just as I suspected... that was my question notwithstanding your useless critical reaction

but you are completely wasting your own time, what "blank check" are you talking about? and why don't you either fill it out at the window, or simply make fill out a cash withdrawal slip that you can also do right at the window.

Furthermore, virtually every teller window at virtually every bank has the ability to run your ATM card at the window, even at a bank other than your own. I had to do this myself a few weeks ago as I needed a thousand bucks in cash out in a town of about a thousand people. The only ATM machine was out of order, so I simply went up to the teller window, had her run my card, and she gave me ten crispy hundred dollar bills. No muss, no fuss. You are making this MUCH more complicated than it needs to be.

I read P'storm and Gag but posting a level up. I think your bank is a little behind the times.

I think what you are calling a "check" from the teller is just a withdrawal slip. There are usually bundles of them at the little tables in the lobbies. If your bank is stingy or thinks it's a security risk to leave blank withdrawal slips lying around, ask the teller for a bunch of them and take them home. Next, time, fill one out ahead of time, or even just while standing in line.

If I had to fill out a form at the window, I'd stand right there and fill it out! What goes on the form: name, account number and how much to withdraw? Less than one minute to write that out. "Please step aside for the other people." No way! PLEASE LEAVE THE WITHDRAWAL FORMS AT THE TABLES SO I DON'T HAVE TO STAND ON LINE JUST FOR A FRICKIN' FORM!

Every bank that I have been in of late has the little card swiping machine at every teller station. You have to swipe your card for even the simplest teller request. "What's my balance?" Swipe your card, please. "Did check number 9999 clear yet?" Swipe your card, please. "Can you convert these 20s into 100s please?" Do you have an account with us? Swipe your card, please.  And many (but not all) of those little machines let you enter your transaction info without having to have the teller do it, just like an ATM. The teller is there to handle the money and paperwork instead of the slot on the ATM itself.

...My bank does have me sign a Teller Check when I get cash from the teller. I use my bank debit card. The teller's computer prints a check. I verify it's correct and sign it. I hand it to her, she gives me the cash.

No more withdrawal slips to fill out. But more time consuming than the ATM. I only do this if I need big bills because of a multi hour appointment.

When I make a withdrawal, I used to have to sign the display in the card reader, just like signing the pad for a CC purchase but  now I think they switched to just "You approve the withdrawal of $$$ from your account. Hit [Accept] or [Cancel]" and accept is the same as my e-sig. Each bank is a little bit different and I don't remember which is which.

One thing I do know. I wanted to deposit a check and the ATM was broken (no more envelopes! just endorse the check, slide it in and the scanner even reads the amount!), so I went to a teller and THAT'S when I had to fill out a deposit slip with name, ADDRESS, account, ... everything to drive customers away from making teller deposits and using the ATMs instead

I rarely if ever even fill out a deposit slip any more, nor am I required to do so when depositing money into the accounts of others, something I do quite often lately as an alternative to sending a bank wire. I simply get the parties account number, drive to the closest branch or his/her bank and make a deposit directly into that person's (or company's) account.

In the past most banks required me to fill out a deposit slip, but I am finding more and more that simply endorsing the check with a "for deposit only, acct 12345678" seems to work just fine at most banks.

I really don't really understand why so many guys seem to have such problems getting access to their own money. I hear similar stories from many guys and I simply can't relate, it's not that hard guys.

I use the ATM because it's convenient. Going into the bank is a pain. I give the lady 20's. Occasionally if it's for a longer appointment I'll go in to get bigger bills but I skip the ATM it's not necessary.

You don't need to change to bigger bills unless your session costs a few thousand dollars or more. Even then, you don't have to, but you might want to.

and have never had any dissent.  Over $1,000 I go to the teller and get C notes

It all spends the same, but Mr. Fisher's rule of thumb is a good one. If it is more than $1000, use big bills only.

We knew someone that always liked to include an extra $2 bill because he thought it would be good luck for us...just glad it wasn't all in $2 bills..

Unless a girl specifically asks to be paid in 100's I see nothing wrong with 20's. They pay my bills just as well as the 100's do :-)

When I first began working I did have done difficultly counting twenties with speed. But, I quickly learned that 5 twenties makes $100 and 50 twenties makes a $1000. I don't think the denomination is a huge deal - unless you're trying to pay with singles. That's obviously a huge no-no.
