Newbie - FAQ

I've been kind of "mean" to Sarah in the past, but why would she be making threADs here?

It sounds like a VERY legitimate question to me, and even I am "nice" on this board, you should do the same.

As to the OP, mr fisher made a good suggestion. I think your friend/s should do the same as any other newbie to the hobby in this country. I think you should tell your friend to join TER and one of the first things he should do is start reading this very board. There are a LOT of helpful vets here, no one is ever "shamed" for asking "dumb questions" and most of us are quite happy to help out.

I am sure if they are coming from a country where this is open and legal they are probably scratching their head in confusion over the convoluted way we are forced to conduct business here in the US.

navigating the pitfalls of the industry here? I was hoping to find a good resource for some friends who are coming over from a country where this type of interaction is not fraught with legal liminality. Can anyone recommend such a page? Specifically how to avoid our uncle, etc. Any links would be greatly appreciated! I just can't be asked to type out a bunch of stuff if there is already something out there I can pass along a link to. :)

Thanks!

They've asked me for advice on how to navigate their stay safely. I've of course explored all the help threads here, and while there is some great advice, there doesn't seem to be too much that would fit their situation precisely. I've directed them here, and I've also sent them a link to some other pages with advice for newbies. Perhaps they will join up here.

I've advised them to stick with well reviewed ladies and even get recommendations from them if they know ladies who will be in cities they plan to travel to. They should be fine, but perhaps I'll write something more detailed and relevant that I can send to them and to future friends with the same problem.

Obviously the regional boards are great for "local knowledge" you should encourage them to introduce themselves on the regional boards of the cities they expect to be traveling to.

Some of the locals are loathe to open up to complete strangers making ISO posts. A few introductory posts with someone credible like you willing to vouch for them will most likely go a long ways into helping with that.
