What about using a VPN?

I have the same question if someone uses a VPN - technically it should show up a different IP address each time, right?

And I thought an IP address was unique to the device - not the wifi?? I'm so confused

Hi! So, I've been trying to utilize this website for a little while now, but keep running into troubles, and any advice would be appreciated!

I just paid for my 90 day VIP membership yesterday, but I cannot use one of the private boards because of "sharing IP/device with other TER members", and to "come back in 90 days"... I had an assistant at one point, but she hasn't been employed by me for a month or two, and I am the only one with access to this account (I also changed my password already)-- does TER not allow assistants? It's not a factor any longer, but we ran into this problem before in October. Am I not allowed to have more than one TER account? I would assume a "doubles" profile would be an exception, but could I check them on the same device? Or will I get locked out again? I'm just very confused and not sure what I'm doing wrong...

I've changed my password but this is still a problem. I have no idea what's going on, and already tried messaging Admin, hopefully they'll be able to help, but in the meantime, I'm wondering if anyone else has run into this problem and how/if they fixed it!
Thank you!

I got an email from admin saying I was sharing my device and I wasn't.When I was new to ter,I had made an account. And then I made a brand new one when I realized I could link my reviews to my ter profile. So I think that if you have more than one ter account, you will get in trouble by admin and they will think you're sharing your device with someone. So just stick with one account.Explain your situation to them. The come back in 90 days thing,I'm not sure what that means.I thought that meant they were gonna wipe all my reviews from ter:(But they didn't.So just email them your situation. They should understand

...even if you have separate accounts TER restricts some access. They want to make sure a non-provider isn't using an account to access the Provider Only Board or other provider functions. It'll be an issue for you as long as there are multiple people using the same internet access even if you use different devices.

Be sure you don't let a client log on while at your location. Especially don't let them review you from there. You'll be suspected of self-reviewing.

...and no you are not allowed to have more than one account.

If not a neighbor might be using it and also be a TER member

You can't have access to more than one profile, even if you have a "doubles" profile.

that TER wants to reduce opportunity for a provider posting her own phony reviews by creating and using other TER accounts but still using the same internet service provider because she is at her "normal" location.

This restriction has been in effect since at least late 2003 (in TER's fourth year) when I joined.  That predates the Provider Only Board by some time (and therefore the purpose is not related to that board).

Phony reviews are still (unknowingly) approved; with ip address tracking there are fewer ones than if TER did not track.
