You're absolutely right, spoken like a wise old sage there.  I'm going to ask her politely for change of terms in good old fashion way and see she's ok with it.  (She should be, why not right?)  Thanks for the wisdom, doc; almost lost my head there from loss of blood flow, got to realign my head straight and approach this methodically and professionally.  =)

Hi gang,

So, I JUST got into this whole "hobbying" (great word btw) and am about to meet my first "date" in about a month in an upscale hotel.  I was perusing through some newbie threads and happened to read upon one that featured a poor soul getting strong armed by a non TER/P411 provider.  Anyways, here' s my dilemma which just came up and now I feel like I almost made the same mistake....

1)  The lady IS verified by TER and has about say more than five but less than 10 reviews posted, by legitimate reviewers based on my research.; seems legit, at least with a working number and email which I've corresponded with her back to back about the appointment.  NOW, the issue is, she DOES take paypal (for those of you in the old age, that's electronic transfer of funds) and I'm thinking, great that makes things easier.  Of course, I JUST realized how risky that may be since she may just take the dough and never show up!  (the robbery post probably gave me some oh shit scenarios in my head)

What do you gents think?  I'm not going to post her call name here (or should I?) for sake of anonymity; oh and one more thing, her paypal ID (email address) pointed to a legitimate business near her area of operation.  What are my options, would really like some help with this one since she was pretty prompt and courteous and getting the details of our appointment and assisting me with a first timer on such.

Thanks in advance

My view is this: I would not do that without getting to know her for some time, or becoming a regular client.  It's the old saying "you get what you pay for" meaning if you pay her without seeing her in person, then... (well I don't have to finish the sentence) ... you likely won't get to see her

Plus, Pay Pal has usurious fees and is a lousy company anyways as they have been known to close gals' accounts and steal their money knowing that they have no recourse to getting their money back without admitting to a crime.

Bad 'cess to them.

Seriously, I feel like a jackass even questioning this, ha.  I've seen enough tv shows and movies to know "leave no paper trail" policy intact but this is why I'm a noob.  =P

Thanks for all the good notes, being schooled like an apprentice here, much appreciation

(I also only have one page of reviews despite having advertised under my current name since 2012)

Does she have a website? How long has it been up?

How long has she been advertising under her current name?

Where does she advertise? Does she post on sites like TER and p411 that tend to attract more reputable providers? How long has she been a member/poster?

In other words, does she have an established online footprint, and a good reputation? Does she seem like she's invested in her business (website, professional photos, thoughtful ad/website copy, etc.)? Or does she seem more like a fly-by-night provider who occasionally posts BP ads when she needs money?

All of those things will help you decide the likelihood that you'll lose the money you give to her.

Of course, most here would recommend that you always pay in cash (no fuss, no muss, no paper trail)

Well, the website seems to been up not too long, since it's dated 2016 and it appears she's started since last October based on TER reviews.  I suppose the red flag would be lack of time but the reviewers that posted are all "seasoned" folks dating back to 2010 and beyond.

She is on TER but not on on P411.  But long story short, will definitely go the Wu Tang route and roll up full CREAM.  (any rap fans should know)

Thanks again for the detailed tips and pointers for this noob.  =)

but I'd skip PayPal, especially if her website has been up 3 months or less.

Anybody can be 'on' TER. That she has reviews doesn't guarantee that she is reputable (or, has integrity).

There are advertising boards on this site (See Ad Boards in the discussion board menu) that attract premium providers. Occasionally, a scammer will try to post there, but they are usually discovered early by the experienced gents, and heckled away... that was what I meant when I asked if she adversities here (different from having a review profile).

agree with you about having reviews isn't enough to verify the provider as being reputable since anyone can post these things; I'm just pointing out that her reviewers "seem" to be from legitimate clients with reviews dating back since kingdom came plus with different providers so statistically speaking, the odds of this one being a scammer is a bit less.

But I'm still not going to take that chance based on all the good advice I got.  =)

I didn't find her through the ad boards; I used advanced search for the area nearby and she came up with high ratings.  I figure it's kind of like Yelp but with a much higher risk factor than getting just a bad meal.

Wu Tang:  Cash Rules Everything Around Me.  (If you're interested, great old school rap

Especially on a first time visit, ESPECIALLY for a true newbie...if you decide to make her a regular date then maybe after a few visits but definitely not your first...

Cash is king...

Agreed 100 times fold, thanks for the firm stance of wisdom, Mr. Jello.

I read your first few sentences and little else in this thread before I said to myself, "WHY?"

1)  You've set a date for a month in the future...and

2) you are going to send money in advance.

If you live near an "upscale hotel" then there have to be other available ladies.

You are making it too complicated.

(TER does not "verify" providers; it publishes reviews submitted by clients and allows providers to whitelist clients.)

I know, it's like all logic and common sense went out the door while the house crumbled down in a sinkhole.  I might as well as post an ad for FREE MONEY.

Anyways, thanks for all the right advice and simple tips; long story short, went back to provider, made the quick change to Mr. Currency and all is well.  (Why shouldn't she be, right?)  I will adhere to KISS principle in all future hobbying endeavors, as suggested by the veteran members.

I got a long way to go before I become "expert" at this....(not that I'm planning such a thing ha)

I will say that I do not take paypal or credit cards but if I did then I certainly wouldn't expect someone that I have never met to use paypal or a credit card and if I did ........then it would certainly NOT be for the full amount. Maybe 25%  but that's just me.
Cash is king!

Seriously, I read what I wrote over and did multiple face palms for my "lack of all things sound and common."

Someone should post like the Ten Commandments version of Hobby and one of the commandment should be "Cash is King" or anything equivalent of that nature.

I do agree, that if a customer was a repeat and trusted, maybe paypal/plastic would be an option within a reasonable limit.

Thanks for the wisdom from the other side, Ms. Fall Wind. =)
