I was looking for someone young and experienced, that I was attracted to.  My feelings are, if you aren't attracted to her looks, move on.  Once I found the ones I was attracted to, I started my research on them till I settled on the one I wanted to see.  Lucky for me, she agreed to see me.  I never asked how she verified that I was OK to see.

As a relative newbie, I think starting with P411 was a smart move for you. I didn't and the first "classy" provider (not just someone on backpage who was a crap shoot) did a full screening on me. That felt like a job interview and didn't really set a good tone for the session.
I've learned to read reviews on TER and found that I can sort of read between the lines. For example, if most of the reviews say "I came out the bathroom and she was lying on the bed in her panties", I've learned that she may not be for me. I like to undress women. (What can I can ...?)  

Most of all relax, don't think too much, and don't expect that your experiences will match everyone else's. If it's not fabulous, get back in the saddle and and ride again, and again, and .... Have fun.

My first provider was chosen off of BackPage...luckiliy for me I later learned she was reviewed and verified but I had no idea at the time...good for you to be taking the more cautious approach...

At this point I tend to look for providers with several good to great reviews who verifies through P411...my menu choices are quite vanilla GFE so I try to set up my searches to avoid the fetish providers and non-GFE...I don't have a preferred physical "type" so I don't limit my searches to certain age groups or body types which opens me up to a lot more possibilities...

But I think my biggest attractor to a provider is whether I get a good "vibe" off of our communications...I usually submit a pre-screen request through P411 and that opens up a chennel for communication without commiting to an appointment...then if it feels right I set an appointment...this approach has never let me down...give it a try...

TER or even the internet was around, I don't know what it's like to be a newbie in this modern age. However, I think methods for newbies as well as "oldies" are still pretty much the same. My selection process is sort of like swim's.
1) Look for someone that is attractive to you.  
2) Check her rates. Is she within your budget?
3) Check her services. Does she provide what you are looking for? This is where TER really comes in handy. You have the luxury of reading reviews. Way back when I was picking up SWs I still used step 1 and 2 above, but I had to take a chance on 3, as there were no reviews to read.  
When checking reviews look for consistency in reviews, and look for reviews written by hobbyists who have written a bunch or reviews also, vs first time reviewers.  
4) As for screening, everyone has a different comfort level. You have to decide how much info you are willing to give up. Some ladies require more info, some require less. Some are newbie friendly, some are not. Once you see a couple ladies, and get a couple OKs it will get much easier.  

You are on the right track by getting TER VIP, and P411, and reading the newbie board.

The girl I wanted to see said absolutely not before I knew anything about getting verified or what this site or any of the other sites were. I could have gotten verified but I choose to see a few low end providers who I knew would get me to where I wanted to go in this world.  My first provider was a well known NJ provider who I took to a Hibachi House and than she took me to a dive hotel. I think I met her someone down past the jersey shore it was about an hour past Edison NJ for those keeping score. I told her straight up what I was looking for and she was cool with it. She charged me a very low rate for dinner and a night on the town. I wasn't attracted to her at all but knew she would put in a good word I went back to the girl who denied me told me I needed another review. Next girl was a bp girl who I knew gave references the question was would a middle of the road provider accept the reference she didn't. This women did everything covered was cheap and got me the reference I needed to see someone else. The third date was the date that changed my life in this world. I connected with Ally Vixen Ms TER December 2015 had a hell of a date and I was on my way. Eventually I went back to the girl with the two reviews and the session wasn't what I was hoping for.

Once you have the two references doors open and this gets easier.

We all have our beginnings. My best advise don't do anything you aren't comfortable with. Have fun and play safe.

of 5 or 6 reviews from established reviewers). Find a newbie friendly provider, relax, and enjoy. Newbie friendly providers are usually around 30yo+ MILF types. Many of the young 20 somethings do not know how to help a man relax and enjoy himself.

Don't short change yourself regarding time. It might be better to start with a 90 minute or more first date. Be well rested, well hydrated, avoid alcohol in excess, and abstain from self-gratification for a few days before (especially true for older gents).

This can become addicting so only use excess funds and not the rent/food/utilities money.

You can do an advanced search on P411 for providers in your area who are willing to see newbies (choose "Newbie friendly" for the option "Provider willing to visit"). But bear in mind that some of these providers may still need some more information on top of the P411 ID that you give them. After you choose a provider, look for her reviews, hopefully she will have a link to her TER reviews from her P411 page. At least in your initial days, don't see a provider who doesn't have any reviews.  
Also TER ad boards for your region are a great place to discover providers visiting/hosting in your area. This is mostly how I discover providers these days.
