So, I've been lurking for sometime now and reading up on everything from the acronyms to the screening process. At first I was thinking "no way", but I've chilled out some and got past some of my apprehensions. Then I looked into P411 and learned that they assign you a username based on a formula that incorporates your first name and other data.
Well imagine you have a unique name - If I say "Oprah", I'd guess most everyone here is picturing Mrs Winfrey.
I don't want to go "up the ladder" via another route to earn references, After all, this is experience was my wife's idea and the last thing I want to do is F that up.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
If you're that concerned about exposure, and it is an understandable concern, I'd communicate directly with your provider of choice via her email...you're going to have to subject yourself to some exposure or you're not going to get with most of the more exclusive girls...keep in mind that these women are PROFESSIONAL and aren't going to expose you to any unnecessary invasions...so find one who has very good reviews and her own website and screening page and open a line of communication...

I am definitely struggling with this. At first the whole thing freaked me out, but then I thought P411 would be a reasonable solution.
The few providers websites that list their screening requirements (DL, work number, work e-mail). They have the absolute right to ask for whatever they deem necessary to feel safe. But I'm really not comfortable with people having a photo of my DL for multiple reasons, including the unique name thing.
I am considering P411 because 1) Most providers seem to prefer it. 2) If this turns into something we do several times a year, I'd rather be screened once by P411 than several different individuals.
If my name were Bob Smith, I'd have probably already done it.
Not completely being a wiseass, but can your wife set up the P411 since you're in this together?

When you sign up with P411 you need to come up with a 4 digit number off of ONE of your ID's, not necessarily you DL...I used mine because the only other photo ID I have is my pistol license and I'm not flashing THAT to anybody...
I did the full employment verification with P411...it was quite painless ans non-intrusive...and yes, your reasoning for using P411 is sound...
Keep in mind that providers booked through P411 have the right to ask to see your ID to verify your username...in that case you can tape over the parts that are not germain, like your name...that's what I do, and have not needed to produce it yet...
...you can call. It's on their site. Call them and explain you concerns regarding your unique name. They have the reputation of working with you to accomplish meeting your needs as well as theirs. Don't just go by what it says on the site and take a pass.

I'm in the same boat as you are. Can you post here (i don't have PM yet) what the resolution was with P411?
