McManus announced yesterday that due to budget cuts from Pawlenty he will cut the Mpls police force by about 20% over the next few years.  The public defenders office (already one of the most overloaded in the country) is facing cuts of 25% this summer unless funding is reinstated through a special session of the legislature.

At some point I would think that busting people for consensual adult sex (done in private btw) would no longer be on the radar screen of our local government.  However, keep in mind that just a few weeks ago McManus made prostitution busts a high priority for this summer and in his previous jobs he was known for running 'very effective' prostitution and vice units.  By all measures though the levels of prostitution in his previous cities are just as high now as at anytime in the past few decades.  Well... we can continue to hope...

Did you notice that the Pagoda in uptown is closing down?  If you never got there it was a great place for a relaxing afternoon or evening.  If by chance common-sense does begin to prevail in Minnesota and the Twin Cities, this now vacant facility would make for one of the greatest massage and brothel complexes in the US.  It's got a great location, some awsome saunas, baths and pools, cool decor, and is already setup in a way that a number of folks could run their own indy businesses within.  Wouldn't it be great to just stop by in the afternoon to see Myrissa or enjoy a whirlpool with Misty?  Maybe we could entice Kim (of Kim Yi's) to run the table-shower and rubdown section.  Rxyguy could be in charge of HR, Misty in charge of promotion, Julia with her flowing red hair will be facilities manager, Lana...  Well, not sure we need to do too much planning just yet.

If it's been more than 32 days since you've written an editorial to our many local papers about the stupidity of our current laws and the benefits of decriminalizing prostitution - GET GOING!
