Thanks for the warning. I'll ask the doc about that.

I know there was a post on this some time back, but I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with these injected ED meds.

Viagra does okay for me during BJ's and foreplay, but when intercourse time comes around, I start to get soft. I don't know why. Maybe because of the physical activity required. Then, after I come, that's it. I just go soft and there's nothing I can do.

I've read a couple of comments about older guys getting hard on's like they had in their 20's, and wondering if that's really true. I priced the treatments at two different clinics, and it's not too outrageous.

Comments very much appreciated.

I asked a similar question on the Newbie board a few days ago and was provided this link from the Over 60 board in January/February 2012 - some good background information there.

Here's my experience:  After doing some research on Google, I decided to give Trimix a try.  I scheduled an appointment at a medical clinic that guarantees an erection.  Spent about 90 minutes giving medical history, basic physical exam, explanation of the product and how it works, etc and then they demonstrated an injection of Trimix.  I had a firm erection in about 10 minutes.  They wanted to give me an antidote before I left, but I convinced them to let me leave without that.  I told them I wanted to see how long the erection lasted and they accepted that, in part because I have a medical background.  The REAL reason I wanted to leave without the antidote is that I had an appointment with a provider as soon as I could get to her from my medical appointment

That erection was as firm as a Viagra erection, and probably better as it did not decrease sensitivity as much as Viagra does for me.  However, the erection does NOT go away after ejaculation - mine lasted about an hour and a half after the injection, or for most of my one hour appointment with the provider.  It wasn't my best experience with a provider and I have decided not to do a review because I'm not sure why we didn't "click".  The sex was great, but the chemistry I like in a GFE session was missing.

So, I would use Trimix on a regular basis if I could get past one challenge - the darn stuff needs to be refrigerated and I can't figure out where to hide it so my SO doesn't find it.  I'm hoping some of the creative and resourceful people that read these posts will offer me a solution to that challenge.

My Google research taught me there is also another form that can be administered up the urethra that does not require refrigeration - it is a dry compound that is mixed with liquid right before you use it.  Apparently it is not as dependable as the injection, but would appreciate feedback from anyone who has experience with the injection alternative - or knows someone with experience.

Open up, guys - and gals - let's get some good information on this thread about Trimix!!

Thanks, OldCodger. That really helps.

Viagra is okay, but I don't like the difficulty in having an orgasm or, after having one, not being able to get up again. If I could stay hard for three hours I'd make my favorite provider and me very happy.

I'm 81 and I have used trimix and it works as well as Cialis or viagra for me. I like the fact that it only takes 10 minutes or so as opposed to an hour or so for C or V. My erections were not as hard as I would like.
I have prostate cancer and the treatment I was on (Arigard) blocked the production of testosterone which blocked my orgasms. I voluntarily stopped taking it and waiting for the return of testosterone. Recently I have succeeded with a climax but only with viagra. Five months after stopping Arigard my PSA is 2.5 and testosterone barely detectable. That's probably too much info but in a round about way of responding to the question.

Curious just where do they inject this Trimix??  Please don't say penis.

That's where. The device is similar to that used by diabetics. It's a very small spring-loaded needle that goes in and out so quickly that supposedly it just feels like a quick pinch.

I had gonorrhea twice in my 20's, back when the test involved having a length of thin wire shoved up inside your penis to get a sample. That felt reallllllly good. I'm sure I can stand the quick injection.

Yep - the injection goes into the penis.  Not that painful at all.  The benefit far outweighs the minimal discomfort.  Now, if I could only get around the storage problem - see my earlier post in this thread.

Sorry but that's exactly where you inject it, but the needle is so small you hardly feel it---Honest.

I just had prostate surgery and am looking into the injections...sounds like this is the way to go for me.  oryx32, since you are 81, please tell me that you are there doing the 20 something K-girls and leave them with a smile on their faces... You would then be a hero and role model for me!

I used Levitra for several years, starting around age 60.  When that started to become less effective, I switched to 20 mg Cialis, which continues to be effective as I approach my 69th birthday.

I never used Viagra because Levitra was available by the time I researched the two and the latter seems to have fewer side effects.

Thanks for the link. You're right. There is a lot of info.

use Tri-Mix or Quad-mix to augment their erections for long play sessions.

It's pretty much a sure-fire enhancer, but after getting your prescription, it does need to be put together by a "compounding" pharmacist. So you can't order it up at your garden-variety pharmacists like Rite-Aid or CVS.

Even given that, it's extremely popular among people who have sex as a hobby.

Guess that would include all of us!

Despite knowing my way around needles (I use needles on folks all day long), I personally got quite a few hematoma's. Nothing like a swollen, deformed, black and blue penis to really set the mood!
The potential bruising puts you out of action for a week or more.
Just mentioning some of the downside!

Is there a way around that? I don't get any adverse reactions to needles injected elsewhere.

The first thing is to avoid injecting into blood vessels you can see!
But it's a complication because it's so vascular there. Other area's not so much.
I'm sure it was mostly bad luck but I had to stop using it. For me, it caused a hematoma half the time. Real mood killer. And for a week at a time. Sometimes you just had a feeling the entire thing would slough off! :)

If you are on a blood thinner, such as Coumadin, or even aspirin, that increases the risk of a hematoma, both incidence and/or severity.  Discussing with the prescribing physician is a GREAT idea.
